A palmier (, from French, short for ''feuille de palmier'' 'palm tree leaf'), pig's ear, palm heart, or elephant ear is a French pastry in a palm leaf shape or a butterfly shape, sometimes called ''palm leaves'', ''cœur de France'', ''French hearts'', ''shoe-soles'', or ''glasses'' that was invented in the beginning of the 20th century. Preparation Palmiers are made from puff pastry, a laminated dough similar to the dough used for croissant, but without yeast. The puff pastry is rolled out, coated with sugar, and then the two sides are rolled up together so that they meet in the middle, making a roll that is then cut into about slices and baked. Usually it is rolled in sugar before baking. Varieties Known as palmeras in Spain, in the Puerto Rican version, they are topped with honey. The Fontaine du Palmier (1806-1808) or Fontaine de la Victoire is a monumental fountain located in the Place du Châtelet, between the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Théâtre de la Ville, in the First Arrondissement of Paris. It was designed to provide fresh drinking water to the population of the neighborhood and to commemorate the victories of Napoleon Bonaparte. It is the largest fountain built during Napoleon's reign still in existence. The closest métro station is Châtelet Design The Fountain du Palmier was one of a series of fifteen fountains commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to his minister of the Interior, Emmanuel Cretet. It was designed by the engineer François-Jean Bralle, who was in charge of the Paris fountains and water supply during the First Empire. It was finished in 1808. is a Japanese anime series and the fourth installment in Izumi Todo's '' Pretty Cure'' metaseries produced by Toei Animation, featuring the third generation of Cures. The series aired on TV Asahi between February 2007 and January 2008 and was followed by a sequel season, , which made up the franchise's fifth installment and aired between February 2008 and January 2009. Both series were directed by Toshiaki Komura and written by Yoshimi Narita. The character designs were done by Toshie Kawamura, who would go on to work on the character designs for ''Smile PreCure!'' and '' Hug! Pretty Cure''.
