Pallywood
Pallywood (a portmanteau of "Palestine" and "Hollywood") is a disinformation campaign used to falsely accuse Palestinians of faking their suffering and civilian deaths in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. It has been described by some authors as a conspiracy theory. The term came into currency following the killing of Muhammad al-Durrah in 2000 during the Second Intifada, involving a challenge to the veracity of photographic evidence. Israeli pundits have used the term to dismiss videos showing Israeli violence or deny Palestinian suffering, particularly during the Gaza war. Origination The term was coined and publicized in part by Richard Landes, as a result of a 2005 online documentary video he produced called ''Pallywood: According to Palestinian Sources'', alleging specific instances of media manipulation. Richard Landes
Richard Allen Landes (born 1949) is an American historian and author who specializes in medieval millennial thinking. Until 2015 he taught at Boston University, and then began working at Bar-Ilan University. Biography Landes is the son of Harvard Professor of Economics and History David Landes. His early publications were concerned with hagiography; his first published monograph was a translation of the ''vita'' of Saint Martial; his second on the scribe and forger Adémar de Chabannes. Until 2015 he was a professor in the Department of History at Boston University, and the director of Boston University's Center for Millennial Studies. Anat Berko (; born 14 January 1960) is an Israeli criminologist and politician. An expert in the fields of counter-terrorism, she served as a member of the Knesset for Likud between 2015 and 2019. Biography Berko was born in Jerusalem to Jewish parents who had immigrated to Israel from Iraq, and was the second of six children. After completing her national service, she remained in the Israel Defense Forces, serving for a total of 25 years and reaching the rank of lieutenant colonel.
