Padang Lalang (state Constituency)
Padang Lalang is a state constituency in Penang, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Penang State Legislative Assembly. The state constituency was first contested in 1986 and is mandated to return a single assemblyman to the Penang State Legislative Assembly under the first-past-the-post voting system. It has been represented by Member of the State Executive Council (EXCO) Daniel Gooi Zi Sen since 2023. Daniel Gooi Zi Sen
Daniel Gooi Zi Sen (; born on 11 June 1987) is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Penang State Executive Council (EXCO) in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) state administration under Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Padang Lalang since August 2023. He served as the MLA for Pengkalan Kota from May 2018 to August 2023. He is a member and Branch Chief of Chemor Lane of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He was also the youngest candidate in the 2018 Penang state election. Background Gooi was born on 11 June 1987 in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. His father is Gooi Seong Sin and mother is Hong Lai Chan. The 15th Penang state election was held on 12 August 2023 to elect the State Assembly members of the 15th Penang State Legislative Assembly, the legislature of the Malaysian state of Penang.
