PSE Mining And Oil Index
The PSE Mining and Oil Index is the sub-index of the Philippine Stock Exchange for mining and oil companies. It is one of the six sub-indices of the PSE that provide a useful measurement of sectoral performance. The index is probably one of the few indices of the PSE that do not have companies currently listed in the PSE Composite Index. Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company and Philex Mining Corporation used to be listed in the PSEi until their removal in the 2010s. However, this index is known to be one of the best performing indices on the PSE in recent years with the recent revival of the Philippine mining industry. The index is composed of the former PSE Mining Index and the PSE Oil Index. Both indices were merged in a reclassification of the PSE's indices on January 1, 2006. Philippine Stock Exchange
The Philippine Stock Exchange, Inc. ( fil, Pamilihang Sapi ng Pilipinas; ) is the national stock exchange of the Philippines. The exchange was created in 1992 from the merger of the Manila Stock Exchange and the Makati Stock Exchange. Including previous forms, the exchange has been in operation since 1927. On a whole, the Philippine Stock Exchange has 275 listed companies. The main index for PSE is the PSE Composite Index (PSEi) composed of thirty (30) listed companies. The selection of companies in the PSEi is based on a specific set of criteria. There are also six additional sector-based indices. The PSE is overseen by a 15-member Board of Directors, chaired by José T. Pardo. PSE Composite Index
The PSE Composite Index, commonly known previously as the PHISIX and currently as the PSEi, is a stock market index of the Philippine Stock Exchange consisting of 30 companies. As the PSE's only broad-base index, it is frequently seen as an indicator of the general state of the Philippine business climate, although its reliability as an indicator of the state of the broader Economy of the Philippines, Philippine economy has been put into question. The stock exchange regularly revises the list, at least twice a year. The PSE Composite Index is always composed of 30 stocks.
