PAMO University of Medical Sciences is a private medical university located in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The university was established in 2017 as the first private medical university in Nigeria. PAMO University of Medical Sciences was founded by the former governor of Rivers State, Dr Sir Peter Odili. In 2017, the university appointed Former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, as its Chairman of the Governing Council and Board of Trustees. Abdulsalami Abubakar
Abdulsalami Abubakar (; born 13 June 1942) is a retired Nigerian army general who served as the military head of state of Nigeria from 1998 to 1999. He was also Chief of Defence Staff from 1997 to 1998. He succeeded General Sani Abacha upon the latter's death. During his leadership, Nigeria adopted a modified version of the 1979 constitution, which provided for multiparty elections. He transferred power to president-elect Olusegun Obasanjo on 29 May 1999. Peter Otunuya Odili (born 15 August 1948) is a Nigerian politician who was the third elected Governor of Rivers State in Nigeria from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.
