Overture Of The Wicked
Overture of the Wicked is an Extended play, EP by American heavy metal band Iced Earth, released in June 2007. The EP features the band's new single "Ten Thousand Strong" which was recorded for the new album released later that same year ''Framing Armageddon: Something Wicked Part 1, Framing Armageddon'', as well as a rerecording of the original "Something Wicked" song cycle (from the album ''Something Wicked This Way Comes (Iced Earth album), Something Wicked This Way Comes''). The re-recorded tracks are also slightly rearranged, with the piano intro to "The Coming Curse" notably absent in the new version. This EP was reissued as part of Iced Earth's ''Box of the Wicked'' collection. The four songs features most of the band's October 2006-March 2007 lineup, with guitarist Jon Schaffer playing bass, as former bassist James "Bo" Wallace left before recording began. Iced Earth
Iced Earth is an American heavy metal band formed in Tampa, Florida and currently based in Columbus, Indiana. They were formed in 1984 under the name the Rose, then Purgatory, by guitarist and main songwriter Jon Schaffer and original drummer Greg Seymour. Iced Earth released their debut album in 1990 and have since released twelve studio albums, four EPs, three compilations, three box sets, three live albums and eleven music videos. After releasing the demo EP ''Enter the Realm'' (1989) and signing to Century Media Records, the band released two full-length studio albums – '' Iced Earth'' (1990) and '' Night of the Stormrider'' (1991) – before taking a two-year hiatus from 1992 to 1994, after which the band returned with new lead vocalist Matt Barlow. Tim "Ripper" Owens
Timothy S. "Ripper" Owens (born September 13, 1967) is an American heavy metal singer who currently performs with KK's Priest, Spirits of Fire, the Three Tremors and A New Revenge. He first gained attention as the lead singer of Judas Priest and then Iced Earth. He took the nickname "Ripper" from the Judas Priest song "The Ripper" during his time in the tribute band British Steel. In 2020, Owens was announced as the frontman for the band KK's Priest, which also featured former Judas Priest members KK Downing and Les Binks. Early life Owens was born on September 13, 1967, in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Kenmore High School in 1985. Something Wicked This Way Comes (Iced Earth Album)
''Something Wicked This Way Comes'' is the fifth studio album by American heavy metal band Iced Earth. Released on June 22, 1998, it was the band's first album to feature bassist James MacDonough and guitarist Larry Tarnowski, and is the only Iced Earth album to be solely produced by Jim Morris, who has worked with the band since 1996's ''The Dark Saga''. Recorded in March 1998, ''Something Wicked This Way Comes'' introduced Jon Schaffer's fictional story Something Wicked Saga, which would be later expanded upon by the band. The song "Watching Over Me" was written as a tribute to Schaffer's deceased childhood friend Bill Blackmon, who inspired the name "Iced Earth". Power Metal
Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context. Generally, power metal is characterized by a faster, lighter, and more uplifting sound, in contrast with the heaviness and dissonance prevalent, for example, in extreme metal.
