Bachman–Turner Overdrive
Bachman–Turner Overdrive, often abbreviated BTO, were a Canadian rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, founded by Randy Bachman, Robbie Bachman and Fred Turner in 1973. Their 1970s catalogue included five top-40 albums and six US top-40 singles (11 in Canada). BTO has five certified gold albums and one certified platinum album in the US; in Canada, they have six certified platinum albums and one certified gold album. The band has sold nearly 30 million albums worldwide, and has fans affectionately known as "gearheads" (derived from the band's gear-shaped logo). Overdrive (mechanics)
Overdrive is the operation of an automobile cruising at sustained speed with reduced engine revolutions per minute (RPM), leading to better fuel consumption, lower noise, and lower wear. The term is ambiguous. The most fundamental meaning is that of an overall gear ratio between engine and wheels, such that the car is ''over-geared'', and cannot reach its potential top speed, i.e. the car could travel faster if it were in a lower gear, with the engine turning at higher RPM. The power produced by an engine increases with the engine's RPM to a maximum, then falls away. The point of maximum power is somewhat lower than the absolute maximum RPM to which the engine is limited, the " redline" RPM. A car's speed is limited by the power required to drive it against air resistance, which increases with speed. "Overdrive" is a song by American singer-songwriter, Katy Rose from her debut studio album, "'' Because I Can"''(2004). It was released to radio as the lead single from the album on July 28, 2003, by V2 Records. The song was written by Rose and Kim Bullard, whilst production was helmed solely by Bullard. According to Rose, the song is about feelings of angst and self-discovery that she experienced as a teenager. "Overdrive" was featured on the soundtrack to the teen comedy film ''Mean Girls'' (2004). Writing and inspiration "Overdrive" was written by Rose, at the age of fourteen in collaboration with her father, Kim Bullard. According to band leader Naoko Yamano, because their album ''Free Time'' (2010) was heavily influenced by punk rock, and ''Pop Tune'' (2012) had explored a more pop-oriented sound, ''Overdrive'' was a chance for the band to explore a more hard rock sound. The Pentium OverDrive was a microprocessor marketing brand name used by Intel, to cover a variety of consumer upgrade products sold in the mid-1990s. It was originally released for 486 motherboards, and later some Pentium sockets. Intel dropped the brand, as it failed to appeal to corporate buyers, and discouraged new system sales. 486 sockets The Pentium OverDrive is a heavily modified, 3.3 volt Pentium P54 core manufactured on 0.6 micrometer technology. It is fitted with a 486-compatible bus unit (though with an increased pin-count), an integrated heatsink and fan, and 32 kB of level 1 cache, double the 16 kB offered on regular P54C chips. Overdrive is a Serbian hardcore punk/metalcore band from Zrenjanin. History The band was formed in 1992 by Dragan Midorović (guitar). The band performed as a cover band with various band lineups until the arrival of Damir Milutinov (vocals) and Aleksandar Midorović (guitar), when they started writing their own material. The band released their debut album ''No More Words'' through the independent record label Boa Records. Beside the three members, the album also featured Aleksandar Vujnov (bass guitar) and Nebojša Mitrović (drums). The follow-up, the album ''Everything's Fine'', featured the new drummer Branislav Đerić. Live versions of the songs from the first two studio albums were included on the third studio album ''Movement'', released through PGP-RTS. ''Overdrive'' is an arcade-style motor racing game which was written by Peter Johnson for the Acorn Electron and BBC Micro and released in 1984 by Superior Software. Gameplay The game was probably inspired by the hugely successful Namco/ Atari arcade game ''Pole Position'', one of the most popular arcade games of the era. It is also influenced by Sega's 1981 game ''Turbo''. Like those arcade games, ''Overdrive'' uses the "rear-view racer format" but there are no bends in the track. The aim of the game is to finish in the top 12 in order to qualify for the next track. FIRST Overdrive was the 2008 game for the FIRST Robotics Competition, announced on January 5, 2008. In it, teams competed to complete counterclockwise laps around a central barrier while manipulating large diameter "Trackballs" over and under overpasses to score additional points. Game Overview FIRST Overdrive is played on a by carpeted field, divided lengthwise by a fence median to create a track, and separate the field into Red and Blue zones. The fence is crossed by an overpass marking the red and blue finish lines, and hold the game pieces: diameter inflated balls called "Trackballs".
