Out Of Scale
''Out of Scale'' is a 1951 American animated short film directed by Jack Hannah and produced by Walt Disney. In the short, Donald Duck has a ride-on sized train layout in his backyard. There is a large tree (home to Chip 'n Dale) that is out of scale, so Donald moves it while they are out. They come back to see their tree moving. The chipmunks realise that one of Donald's model houses is perfect for their size. Plot The short begins with a shot of a mighty steam locomotive barreling down the track, which is actually a miniature scale model, with Donald Duck conducting it around an intricate setup in his back yard. After a stop in the model town Canyonville, Donald gets off the train to place the miniature trees he is holding. He bumps into a real tree, which offends him due to being out of scale for his model. Jack Hannah
John Fredrick Hannah (January 5, 1913 – June 11, 1994) was an American animator, writer and director of animated shorts. He worked for Disney and Walter Lantz. Biography Hannah was born on January 5, 1913, in Nogales, Arizona. After attending grammar school in Nogales, Arizona and high school in National City, California, he moved to Los Angeles in 1931 to study at the Art Guild Academy. One of his first jobs was designing movie posters for Hollywood theaters for the advertising firm Foster & Kleiser. In 1933, during the Great Depression, Hannah dropped off his portfolio at Walt Disney Studios, and soon afterward was hired as an in-between and clean-up artist, working on Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Silly Symphony cartoons. ''The Brave Engineer'' is a 1950 Walt Disney-produced animated short film, based on the exploits of legendary railroad engineer John Luther "Casey" Jones. It is narrated by comic Jerry Colonna and is a comedically madcap fanciful re-telling of the story related in the Wallace Saunders ballad, later made famous by Eddie Newton and T. Lawrence Seibert. Central Pacific 173 was a 4-4-0 "American" type steam locomotive, built by Norris-Lancaster for the Western Pacific Railroad in 1864. After its acquisition by Central Pacific, #173 was involved in a bad wreck, lying idle for two years before undergoing a sweeping reconstruction by the line's Sacramento Shops. It subsequently became the prototype for the railroad's engines when the CP began constructing locomotives. The engine was successful, and more engines were built to #173's design. In the 1950s, its blueprints became the basis for a miniature railroad built by Hollywood movie studio owner and railroad enthusiast Walt Disney, who had a 1:8 replica built by the studio's machine shop. John Luther "Casey" Jones (March 14, 1864 – April 30, 1900) was an American railroader who was killed when his passenger train collided with a stalled freight train in Vaughan, Mississippi. Jones was a locomotive engineer for the Illinois Central Railroad, based in Memphis, Tennessee and Jackson, Mississippi. He was noted for his exceptionally punctual schedules, which sometimes required a degree of risk, though this was not a factor on his fatal last journey. "I've Been Working on the Railroad" is an American folk song. The first published version appeared as "Levee Song" in ''Carmina Princetonia'', a book of Princeton University songs published in 1894. The earliest known recording is by The Shannon Quartet, released by Victor Records in 1923.
