Otto is a town in Cattaraugus County, New York, United States. The population was 775 at the 2020 census. The name comes from Jacob S. Otto, an agent of the Holland Land Company. The town lies on the northern border of Cattaraugus County. History The area of the town was first settled around 1816. The town of Otto was formed in 1823 from part of the town of Perrysburg. Otto returned territory to Perrysburg in 1823 and ceded land to Ashford in 1835. In 1854, the eastern half of the town was spun off and renamed East Otto. The Medora Ball Historical Museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Otto Gerhard Waalkes (born 22 July 1948), also known as simply Otto, is a German comedian, actor, musician, writer, and comic book artist. He became famous in the 1970s and 1980s in Germany with his shows, books and films. His best known trademark are the 'Ottifanten' ('Ottiphants'), elephant-like comic characters of his own design. They featured on the cover of his first album release. Otto Maximiliano Pereira de Cordeiro Ferreira (born June 28, 1968), known Mononymous person, mononymously as Otto, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, drummer, and television actor and presenter, famous for being one of the founding members of the pioneering Mangue Bit band Mundo Livre S/A, of which he served as its drummer from 1984 to 1996. Early life and career Otto was born in Belo Jardim, Pernambuco, on June 28, 1968, and is of Dutch people, Dutch and Indigenous peoples in Brazil, Native Brazilian descent. During his early teens he moved to Recife, where he befriended Chico Science and Fred 04; with the latter he would form Mundo Livre S/A, one of the first Mangue Bit bands ever alongside Science's Nação Zumbi. Otto provided drums for Mundo Livre S/A's first two studio albums, until leaving the band in 1996 to pursue a solo career. Otto (–26 June 1057) was an illegitimate son of Bernard, Margrave of the Nordmark, and a Slav mistress whose name is unknown. He was exiled to Bohemia during his youth. Following the death of his half-brother William on 10 September 1056, Otto returned to Saxony to claim the Northern March. His claim, however, was contested by Lothair Udo I, and Otto was killed in battle near Hausneindorf on 26 June 1057.
