Osbourn is a settlement in Antigua and Barbuda, home to V.C. Bird International Airport. Geography Nearby villages and settlements include Piggotts, New Winthorpes and Potters in Saint George, and Cedar Grove, Parham and Cassada Gardens elsewhere. Osbourn High School
Osbourn High School is a public school for grades 9–12 located in Manassas, Virginia, United States and the sole high school of the Manassas City Public Schools system. History and administration History Osbourn High School was originally opened in 1890 as the Manassas Institute by Fannie and Eugenia Osbourn as a private school. In 1908, the Institute became part of the Virginia Public School System and was renamed the Manassas Agricultural High School. After the passing of Fannie Osbourn Metz, Eugenia Osbourn became the principal. In 1928, a new school building was opened on Lee Avenue; the school was renamed Manassas High School. Ms. Eugenia Osbourn remained principal of this high school until 1935. In 1939, the school was renamed Osbourn High School in her honor. Anne Osbourn
Anne Elisabeth Osbourn is a professor of biology and group leader at the John Innes Centre, where she investigates plant natural product biosynthesis. She discovered that in the plant genome, the genes involved with biosynthesis organise in clusters. She is also a popular science communicator, poet and is the founder of thScience, Art and Writing (SAW)Initiative. She was elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2022. Early life and education Osbourn grew up in West Yorkshire. Her parents both studied and lectured English literature and her father served in the army during World War II. She became interested in plants as a child and she attended Bingley Grammar School graduating in 1979. She earned a bachelor's degree in botany at Durham University in 1982. Jane Osbourn
Jane Osbourn, OBE, is a scientist and former chair of the UK BioIndustry Association. A Natural Sciences graduate of Queens' College, Cambridge, Osbourn completed several post-graduate qualifications before moving into industry at Cambridge Antibody Technology, that became MedImmune and AstraZeneca. In the Queen's Birthday Honours list of 2019, Osbourn was awarded the Order of the British Empire medal for services to "Human Monoclonal Antibody Drug Research and Development and Biotechnology". Early life Osbourn was born in Bingley, West Yorkshire, and attended Bingley Grammar School. She is married to John Richer, Professor of Physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge. She is the sister of Professor Anne Osbourn FRS who investigates plant natural product biosynthesis.
