Orlando (record Label)
Orlando Productions is a French record label, owned by Bruno Gigliotti, brother of singer Dalida, for whom he used to be the manager. In the late 1960s, he founded the Orlando label as a vehicle to release and to control Dalida's musical output. History Dalida was an Egyptian-Italian and later French singer. Like many other French artists, Dalida used to be under contract at Barclay Records, owned by producer and composer Eddie Barclay. Bruno Gigliotti worked as an art director at the label, before founding Orlando Productions. Orlando's own record label carried several names, such as ''International Show'' and ''Orlando International Show'' (sometimes the plural of 'show' was used). The label was distributed by Sonopresse in France, and by other companies in the rest of Europe (such as Omega International/Dureco in the Benelux and RCA Victor in Italy). Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti (; 17 January 1933 – 3 May 1987), professionally known as Dalida (, ; ), was an Italian naturalized French singer and actress. Leading an international career, Dalida has sold over 140 million records worldwide. Some of her best known songs include "", "", "", "", "", "", "", and "" featuring spoken word by Alain Delon. Initially an actress, she made her debut in the film ''A Glass and a Cigarette'' by Niazi Mostafa, Niazi Mustapha in 1955. Barclay is a French Universal Music Group record label, originally owned by Eddie Barclay in 1953. Barclay previously established Riviera-LM Records in 1951. Eddie was a bandleader, pianist, producer and nightclub owner. With his wife and vocalist, Nicole, he started a record company. It published the work of Stéphane Grappelli, Lionel Hampton and Rhoda Scott, among others. In 1978, he sold 40% to PolyGram Records. Jazz issues ceased in 1983. Frédéric Mitterrand (21 August 1947 – 21 March 2024) was a French actor, screenwriter, producer, and politician who served as Minister of Culture and Communication of France from 2009 to 2012 under President Nicolas Sarkozy.
