Carl Orff
Carl Heinrich Maria Orff (; 10 July 1895 – 29 March 1982) was a German composer and music educator, who composed the cantata ''Carmina Burana (Orff), Carmina Burana'' (1937). The concepts of his Orff Schulwerk, Schulwerk were influential for children's music education. Life Early life Carl Heinrich Maria Orff was born in Munich on 10 July 1895, the son of Paula Orff (née Köstler, 1872–1960) and Heinrich Orff (1869–1949). His family was Kingdom of Bavaria, Bavarian and was active in the Imperial German Army; his father was an army officer with strong musical interests, and his mother was a trained pianist. His grandfathers, Carl von Orff (1828–1905) and Karl Köstler (1837–1924), were both major generals and also scholars. His paternal grandmother, Fanny Orff (née Kraft, 1833–1919), was Catholic of Jewish descent. His maternal grandmother was Maria Köstler (née Aschenbrenner, 1845–1906). Orff Schulwerk
The Orff Schulwerk, or simply the Orff Approach, is a developmental approach used in music education. It combines music, movement, drama, and speech into lessons that are similar to a child's world of play. It was developed by the Germany, German composer Carl Orff (1895–1982) and colleague Gunild Keetman during the 1920s. Orff worked until the end of his life to continue the development and spread of his teaching method. The Orff Approach is now used throughout the world to teach students in a natural and comfortable environment. The term ''Schulwerk'' is German for (literally) ''school work'' or ''schooling'', in this regard in the area of music. ''Animorphs'' is a science fantasy series of youth books written by Katherine Applegate and her husband Michael Grant, writing together under the name K. A. Applegate, and published by Scholastic. It is told in first person, with all six main characters taking turns narrating the books through their own perspectives. The core themes of the series are horror, war, imperialism, dehumanization, sanity, morality, innocence, leadership, freedom, family, and growing up. Published between June 1996 and May 2001, the series consists of 54 books and includes ten companion books, eight of which fit into the series' continuity (the '' Animorphs Chronicles'' and ''Megamorphs'' books) and two that are gamebooks not fitting into the continuity (the ''Alternamorphs'' books). Gertrud Orff
Gertrud Orff (9 August 1914 in Munich – 1 May 2000 in Munich) was one of the first German music therapists. She developed Orff Music Therapy and, from 1939 to 1953, was the second wife and collaborator of the composer Carl Orff. Biography Gertrud Willert was born on 9 August 1914 in Munich. Little is known about her life before she married Carl Orff (1895–1982). It is known that after graduating from high school, she attended a private business school. Contrary to the wishes of her father, who wanted her to study medicine, she devoted herself to music and met Carl Orff. She was one of his first students and they married 1939. She was his second wife, divorcing in 1953. Gertrud was involved in the development of Carl Orff's Schulwerk (School Work) and tested it in public schools in the United States.
