Oregon State Beavers Wrestling
The Oregon State Beavers wrestling program was established in 1909. Traditionally a nationally prominent team, the Beavers won the Amateur Athletic Union national championship in 1926 (Oregon State's first national championship in any sport) and have won their conference championship over 50 times. The team has produced 99 All-Americans, 12 individual national champions, is associated with five National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum, National Wrestling Hall of Fame members, and has had wrestlers represent their nations at the olympic games on ten different occasions. The team has finished their season ranked in the NCAA top 25 on 46 occasions, including finishing 21 seasons in the top 10 and two seasons as national runners-up. Chris Pendleton
Chris Pendleton (born January 21, 1982) is a former American Amateur Wrestling, wrestler who competed Collegiate wrestling, collegiately for Oklahoma State Cowboys wrestling, Oklahoma State University. Pendleton won NCAA Division I wrestling titles at 174 pounds in 2004 and 2005 and was a three-time All-America, All-American. Biography Pendleton won the 145-pound California state championship his senior year at Lemoore High School in Lemoore, California. His senior year performance in 2000 earned him the Schalles Award#Junior Schalles Award winners, Junior Schalles Award as the top Scholastic wrestling, high school pinner. the Oregon State Beavers Jess Lewis (born July 28, 1947) is an American former amateur wrestler and professional football player. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Houston Oilers in 1970. He graduated from Cascade High School in Turner, Oregon. College wrestling Lewis was an accomplished wrestler for Oregon State, becoming a three-time conference champion (1968–1970), three-time All-American (1968–1970), and a two-time NCAA champion (1969, 1970) in the heavyweight division. the Oregon State Beavers John August Witte (January 29, 1933 – March 17, 1993) was an American professional football tackle who played one season with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Western Interprovincial Football Union (WIFU). He was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the ninth round of the 1955 NFL draft. Howard Harris (wrestler)
Howard Harris (born February 9, 1958) is a former American wrestler. He was an NCAA national champion and four-time All-American at Oregon State University. Harris was the national champion in the heavyweight weight class at the 1980 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships and was named the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament, becoming the first African American to win the award. High school Harris attended McNary High School in Keizer, Oregon, winning the state team championship as a junior in 1975. He was undefeated that year until the state tournament finals when he had to forfeit due to an injury.
