The Order of Saint John in Sweden ( sv, (S:t) Johanniterorden i Sverige) is a Protestant chivalric order. It is a member of the Alliance of the Orders of Saint John of Jerusalem. It was founded in 1920 in Stockholm, Sweden, as an affiliate of the German Bailiwick of Brandenburg. In November 1946, it was granted a Royal Charter by King Gustav V as the ''Johanniterorden i Sverige''. Gustaf V (Oscar Gustaf Adolf; 16 June 1858 – 29 October 1950) was King of Sweden from 8 December 1907 until his death in 1950. He was the eldest son of King Oscar II of Sweden and Sophia of Nassau, a half-sister of Adolphe, Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Carl XVI Gustaf (Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus; born 30 April 1946) is King of Sweden. He ascended the throne on the death of his grandfather, Gustaf VI Adolf, on 15 September 1973. He is the youngest child and only son of Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten, and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
