Order Of Constitutional Merit
The Order of Constitutional Merit is a civil order of merit established by royal decree on 18 November 1988. The order is granted those who have carried out activities in service of the Spanish Constitution and its values and established principles. It may be granted to people and groups both public or private, Spanish or foreign. Recipients are treated as an ''Excellency''. Appearance The order has a distinctive oval medal, made of sterling silver with gold plating. The obverse is the coat of arms of Spain on a blue background and the legend ''Constitutional Merit''. The badge of the Order of Constitutional Merit hangs from a silk ribbon equally divided in red and yellow parts. The Medal of Constitutional Merit hangs from a twisted silk cord of red and yellow. Groups and organizations are awarded a Plaque of Honor with the insignia of the order. Pablo Pérez Tremps (22 August 1956 – 16 July 2021) was a Spanish judge on the Constitutional Court and professor of constitutional law. Early life Pérez Tremps was born on 22 August 1956 in Madrid, Spain. Pérez Tremps graduated from the Complutense University of Madrid with a law degree in 1978. Career Pérez Tremps joined the Constitutional Court of Spain in June 2004, for a nine-year term. Pérez Tremps left the court in June 2013. Pascual Sala Sánchez (born 18 June 1935) is a Spanish jurist. He was president of the Spanish Supreme Court of Spain, Supreme Court and of the General Council of the Judiciary between 1990 and 1996, and was later president of the Constitutional Court of Spain, Constitutional Court, between 2011 and 2013. José Rivas Fontán (born 31 August 1941) is a Spanish politician and teacher who was the Mayor of Pontevedra between 1979 and 1991. He withdrew from public activity in 2004 and is currently retired.
