Operation Condor (1954)
Operation Condor (also known as Operation D) was a secret operation of the French Groupement de Commandos Mixtes Aéroportés against the Viet Minh supply column. It happened during the First Indochina War's climactic Battle of Dien Bien Phu from April, 28th to May, 10th 1954. Mission objectives Operation Condor was an attempt to weaken the Viet Minh artillery's assaults against the besieged French Union garrison of Dien Bien Phu. On April 22 1954, General Cogny insisted with his superior General Navarre to take a decision about Condor. Operation Condor ( es, link=no, Operación Cóndor, also known as ''Plan Cóndor''; pt, Operação Condor) was a United States–backed campaign of political repression and state terrorism, state terror involving Intelligence (information gathering), intelligence operations and assassination of opponents. It was officially and formally implemented in November 1975 by the right-wing dictatorships of the Southern Cone of South America. Due to its clandestine nature, the precise number of deaths directly attributable to Operation Condor is highly disputed. Operation Condor (Afghanistan)
Operation Condor was the name of a major British-led operation in southeastern Afghanistan. The operation began on 17 May 2002 when a patrol of the Australian Special Air Service was ambushed. ''Operation Constellation'' was the name of one of a number of missions proposed by Vice Admiral Louis Mountbatten, 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, Lord Louis Mountbatten in 1943 to take back the Channel Islands from German occupation of the Channel Islands, German occupation during World War II. It was never mounted. The other missions were ''Operation Condor'', ''Operation Concertina'', and ''Operation Coverlet''. Background Between 1940 and 1945, the Channel Islands were the only British territory to come under Nazism, Nazi occupation.
