Tosca (band)
Tosca are an Austrian music group consisting of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber. This is Dorfmeister's second such project, the first being Kruder & Dorfmeister. Tosca's first album, ''Opera'', was released in 1997 by G-Stone Recordings. History Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber first met in school, and began experimenting with tape machines, Indian music, and poetry lyrics, under the name of Dehli9. After school, Dorfmeister and Huber went their separate ways: Dorfmeister began producing and DJing with Peter Kruder, and Huber worked in the experimental music scene. His compositions were featured by Wiener Festwochen (Private Exile, 2004), Centre Pompidou (Sonic Process, 2002) and Ars Electronica (Radiotopia, 2002) as well as in TV series ('' C.S.I.: Miami'', ''Sex and the City'') and radio (signations for the ORF – Austrian Broadcasting Company). Trip Hop
Trip hop (sometimes used synonymously with " downtempo") is a musical genre that originated in the early 1990s in the United Kingdom, especially Bristol. It has been described as a psychedelic fusion of hip hop and electronica with slow tempos and an atmospheric sound, often incorporating elements of jazz, soul, funk, reggae, dub, R&B, and other forms of electronic music, as well as sampling from movie soundtracks and other eclectic sources. The style emerged as a more experimental variant of breakbeat from the Bristol sound scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s, incorporating influences from jazz, soul, funk, dub, and rap music. The name is an abbreviation of the company's original Berlin address, Kaiserdamm 7 (it has since relocated, first to Heidestrasse 52, and currently headquartered at Gerichtstrasse 35). !K7 has since opened branch offices in New York City and London. Kruder & Dorfmeister, named after members Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister, is an Austrian duo, known for their trip hop/downtempo remixes of pop, hip hop and drum and bass songs. Career In 1993, they released their first EP '' G-Stoned'' featuring the hypnotic "High Noon" and a cover resembling Simon & Garfunkel's '' Bookends'' to critical acclaim especially from the UK. Gilles Peterson played the track at first on his BBC show ''Worldwide''. In 2007, the duo were commissioned by Nokia to create a set of ringtones and sounds for its luxury Nokia 8800 Arte and Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte phones. 2010 marked the 16th anniversary of Kruder & Dorfmeister and their record label G-Stone Recordings which resulted in the release of the ''Sixteen F**king Years Of G-Stone Recordings'' compilation and the development of the ''K&D Sessions Live'' show. Rupert W.M. Huber (born 1967 in Mödling, Austria) is an Austrian composer and musician. In 1994, Huber founded ''Huber Musik'' to publish his own music, and in the same year, founded Tosca with Richard Dorfmeister. Huber's 2006 release of ''Fuck Dub Remixes CD'' was also created in collaboration with Dorfmeister. Huber's works have been commissioned, amongst others, by Centre Pompidou, Wiener Festwochen, and Ars Electronica. Unlike many of Tosca's subsequent releases, ''Suzuki'' is essentially an instrumental album, with vocal samples integrated throughout, but in such a way that they "become a part of the instrumentation."
