Hendrik Van Oort
Hendrik van Oort (6 August 1775 in Utrecht – 17 February 1847 in Utrecht) was a 19th-century painter from the Northern Netherlands. Among his best known works are ''In the Meadow'' and ''The Shoemaker'', the latter of which is on display at the Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, painted some time between 1800 and 1830. Mainly a landscape painter, van Oort chose mainly quaint rural villages, small towns and rural folk as his subjects. But he also captured landscapes of cities such as Amsterdam; his landscape ''View of Canal, Amsterdam'' sold at the Amsterdam branch of Christie's on September 5, 2000, for $3,353. Johan Frederik van Oordt; name sometimes spelled as Joan Frederik van Oordt (23 November 1794 – 11 December 1852) was a Dutch theologian born in Rotterdam. In 1821 he earned his doctorate at University of Utrecht, where one of his instructors was Philip Willem van Heusde (1778-1839). While still a student he served as pastor in Lower Langbroek. Following graduation he served as a minister in Alkmaar, and in 1823 returned to Utrecht, where he worked as a minister and teacher. In 1829 van Oordt was appointed professor of theology at the University of Groningen, where he conducted classes in dogmatics, practical theology, homiletics, et al. With Louis Gerlach Pareau (1800-1866) and Petrus Hofstede de Groot (1802-1886), he formed the nucleus of an influential theological movement known as the Groningen School. Adri Bleuland van Oordt was a Dutch artist and draftswoman who was active from around 1877 until her death in 1944. Biography Adriana Maria Hendrika Bleuland van Oordt (known as Adri Bleuland van Oordt) was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands on 5 June 1862 to Guilhelmina Catharina Arnoudina Hoogwerff and Jan Bleuland van Oordt. She was educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts from 1884 to 1889. Bleuland van Oordt painted portraits, still life images, figures, fruit, and scenes, including with pastels, oil paint, chalk and watercolors.
