The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists, or OACETT, is a not-for-profit, self-governing organization in Ontario, Canada. It is a professional body, professional association that promotes the interests of engineering and applied science technicians and technologists to industry, educational institutions, government and with the public. It currently has 24,000+ members. History In 1956, a certification program for technicians and technologists was started by the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (APEO), now known as Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). The first certifications were granted on June 5, 1957. OACETT was incorporated in 1962 by the APEO. APEO reserved the post-nominal "CET" under the federal Trademarks Act, and later transferred ownership to OACETT. Technology Professionals Canada (TPC) is an organization in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, that advocates for the profession of technicians and technologists within the provinces of their member organizations. History It was founded in 2010 as a partnership between associations of technology professions in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. The organization came about when several associations of certified engineering technology ceased their membership with the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists. Red Seal Interprovincial Standards Program
Red Seal Program, specifically known as The Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program is a program that sets common standards for tradespeople in Canada. It is a partnership between the Canadian federal government, the provinces and the territories. The Red Seal program is under the jurisdiction of the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship (CCDA) It was created in 1959 as a result of the first National Conference on Apprenticeship in Trades and Industries, held in Ottawa in 1952. Not all provinces/territories participate in all the Red Seal trades. There are 56 trades currently recognized in the Red Seal program.
