Ongole Lok Sabha constituency is one of the twenty-five Lok Sabha constituencies of Andhra Pradesh in India. It comprises seven assembly segments and belongs to the Prakasam district. Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy won the seat in the 2024 elections. INC won 11 times, CPI won once, TDP won 3 times, Independents won once, and YSRCP won 2 times. Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy
Magunta Sreenivasulu Reddy (born 15 October 1953) is an Indian politician and liquor baron currently serving as the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Ongole constituency in the Lok Sabha, affiliated with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) since March 2024. Over his career, Sreenivasulu Reddy has represented Ongole in multiple Lok Sabha terms—initially as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC) in the 12th, 14th and 15th Lok Sabha, and later with the YSR Congress Party (YCP) in the 17th Lok Sabha. He transitioned to the TDP in 2024 after resigning from YCP. Sreenivasulu Reddy has also been associated with an excise duty investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which led to the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Telugu Desam Party
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP; ) is an Indian regional political party primarily active in the Federated state, states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It was founded by Telugu cinema, Telugu matinée idol N. T. Rama Rao (NTR) on 29 March 1982 and has focused on supporting Telugu people. 1962 Indian General Election
General elections were held in India between 19 and 25 February 1962 to elect members of the 3rd Lok Sabha, third Lok Sabha. Unlike the previous two elections, each constituency elected a single member. Jawaharlal Nehru won another landslide victory in his third and final election campaign. 1957 Indian General Election
General elections were held in India between 24 February and 14 March 1957, the second elections to the Lok Sabha after independence. Elections to several state legislatures were held simultaneously. Under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru, the Indian National Congress easily won a second term in power, taking 371 of the 494 seats. They gained an extra seven seats (the size of the Lok Sabha had been increased by five) and their vote share increased from 45% to 48%. The INC received nearly five times more votes than the Communist Party, the second largest party.
