''On the Adamant'' () is a 2023 French-language documentary film directed by Nicolas Philibert. The work portrays the floating structure L'Adamant Day Center, located on the Seine river in Paris. The structure is a special daycare center for the treatment of adults with mental disorders. It won the Golden Bear at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival, where it had its world premiere on 24 February 2023. The film was also nominated for the Berlinale Documentary Film Award. Nicolas Philibert
Nicolas Philibert (; born 10 January 1951) is a French film director and actor. Biography Philibert was born in Nancy, France. He studied philosophy in the University of Grenoble. Philibert's father was a film lecturer and he attended his talks in his youth, which encouraged him to embark on a career in the film industry. He started it with filmmaker René Allio in 1970, as a trainee on ''Les Camisards'' and then as an assistant on ''Rude Journée pour la reine'' (1973), and assistant-director on ''Moi, Pierre Rivière, ayant égorgé ma mère, ma sœur et mon frère...'' (1975). The 67th BFI London Film Festival was a film festival that took place from 4–15 October 2023. The competition films were announced on 29 August 2023 while the films for the galas and the strands were revealed on 31 August 2023. Frederick Wiseman (born January 1, 1930) is an American filmmaker, documentarian, and theater director. His work is primarily about exploring American institutions. In 2017, ''The New York Times'' called him "one of the most important and original filmmakers working today". Early life Wiseman was born to a Jewish family in Boston on January 1, 1930, the son of Gertrude Leah (née Kotzen) and Jacob Leo Wiseman. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College in 1951, and a Bachelor of Laws from Yale Law School in 1954. He spent 1954 to 1956 serving in the U.S. Army after being drafted.
