The Old Brewery Mission is a resource for homeless men and women in Quebec, Canada. History The Old Brewery was founded in 1889 by two women, Mina Douglas and Eva Findlay, who started serving hot meals to Montrealers in need. In the early 20th century, the Old Brewery Mission gradually evolved from a soup kitchen to a full homeless shelter. In 1998, its women's shelter, the ''Patricia Mackenzie Pavilion'' was opened. Old Mission Beach Athletic Club Rugby, commonly referred to as OMBAC Rugby, is a rugby union team based in San Diego, California. It is directly affiliated with the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club. History The club was established in 1966 under the wing of Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) which was founded in 1954. Many past students of San Diego State Aztecs Rugby Club joined, and the OMBAC rugby club entered first division competition two years later in 1968. Old Mission House
The Old Mission House was a historic Episcopal church mission house in Fort Yukon, Alaska. It was constructed in 1925 as part of a Native American mission. It was the third mission house built on the site, nearly duplicating one built in 1914 and destroyed by fire. The house is a -story log structure in an L shape, with interior rooms constructed by frame construction. The building was the center of the religious mission, which provided educational and health services to the local Native population. This building was used as a school, providing boarding space for students from distant areas. In 1957 the building was adapted for use as the medical clinic after the previous clinic building was closed and later torn down. Old Mission Dam is a historic water impoundment structure in Mission Trails Regional Park in San Diego, California. It was built in 1803 to impound the San Diego River to provide water for irrigation of the fields associated with Mission San Diego de Alcalá, the first Spanish mission in what is now the US state of California. It was the first major colonial-era irrigation project on the Pacific coast of the United States. The surviving remnant of the dam was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1963. Old Mission Inn
The Old Mission Inn, previously known as Hedden Hall or the Porter Hotel, is an inn located at 18599 Old Mission Road near Traverse City, Michigan. It was designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1980 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. History In 1867, George and Amanda Hedden purchased of land that had previously been part of the nearby Old Mission, which had been abandoned in 1852. The Heddens constructed this 25-room inn on the property in 1874, and operated it as "Heddon Hall." In the 1880s, the railroad and steamship lines service in the area began promoting the Grand Traverse region as a summer tourist destination, and the Old Mission Inn was recognized as one of the best hotels in the area. Old Mission is an unincorporated community in Grand Traverse County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located within Peninsula Township, and is located about south of the tip of the Old Mission Peninsula, along the shore of the East Arm of Grand Traverse Bay. As an unincorporated community, Old Mission has no legally defined boundaries or population statistics of its own. The Old Mission Peninsula AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in Grand Traverse County, Michigan known for well-regarded Michigan wine. The Old Mission Peninsula extends northward from Traverse City into the Grand Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan, ending at Old Mission Point. The peninsula is long by wide at its widest point. The climate on the peninsula is moderated by the surrounding waters, helping to prevent frost during the growing season. Grape varietals suitable to cool climates, such as Riesling, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot gris, Pinot noir, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot do best in the Old Mission Peninsula AVA. Peninsula Township is a civil township of Grand Traverse County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The township had a population of 6,068 at the 2020 census, an increase from 5,433 at the 2010 census. Peninsula Township is coterminous with the Old Mission Peninsula, which projects about north from its base in Traverse City into Grand Traverse Bay, an arm of Lake Michigan. The peninsula divides the Grand Traverse Bay into an East Arm and West Arm. Old Wing Mission (also known as Old Wing Inn) is a historic building at 5298 147th Ave. in Holland, Michigan. It is the oldest surviving house in the township. History In 1839, Rev. George Smith, a Vermont native, established Christian mission to the local Ottawas at this site. The mission was funded by the Presbyterian Church of Michigan through an Allegan-based Indian mission society. Smith originally built a log cabin for his family near this site. In 1844, local settler Isaac Fairbanks began the construction of this house for Smith. Smith's family moved into the house in 1846. In 1848 Michigan suffered from a smallpox epidemic that affected the entire community of people.
