Oak Station (RTD)
Oak is an at-grade light rail station on the W Line (RTD), W Line of the RTD Bus & Light Rail, RTD Rail system. It is located near the intersection of West Colfax Avenue and Oak Street, after which the station is named, in Lakewood, Colorado. The station is located within the Lakewood Industrial Park. The station opened on April 26, 2013, on the West Corridor, built as part of the Regional Transportation District (RTD) FasTracks public transportation expansion plan and voter-approved sales tax increase for the Denver metropolitan area. The area around station has seen transit-oriented development. A large complex of Terumo offices, the headquarters for the company's Blood and Cell Technologies division, opened inside the Lakewood Industrial Park in 2015. FasTracks is a multibillion-dollar public transportation expansion plan under construction in metropolitan Denver, Colorado, United States. Developed by the Regional Transportation District (RTD), the plan consists of new commuter rail, light rail, and express bus services. Colfax Avenue
Colfax Avenue is the main street that runs east–west through the Denver metropolitan area in Colorado. As U.S. Highway 40, it was one of two principal highways serving Denver before the Interstate Highway System was constructed. In the local street system, it lies 15 blocks north of the zero meridian (Ellsworth Avenue, one block south of 1st Avenue), and would thus otherwise be known as 15th Avenue. W Line (RTD)
The W Line, also called the West Rail Line, is a light rail line in Denver, Lakewood, and Golden, Colorado, United States. The W Line was the first part of FasTracks to break ground, on May 16, 2007. The line, the only line to traverse the West Corridor, opened for service on Friday, April 26, 2013. History The Denver, Lakewood and Golden Railroad started operations in the area in 1893, switching to electric traction by 1909 as the Denver and Intermountain Railroad.
