OHAL Region
The OHAL region () was a "super-region" created in Turkey under state of emergency legislation, as part of its approach to the Kurdish–Turkish conflict. From 1994 onwards the scope of the OHAL super-region was gradually narrowed, with provinces being downgraded to "neighbouring province" and then removed from OHAL altogether. The state of emergency was extended 46 times, for four months each time. OHAL was finally discontinued on 30 November 2002. Extension from 1987 - 1990 A new era started with the declaration of a region under emergency legislation in the provinces of Bingöl, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Hakkari, Mardin, Siirt, Tunceli and Van and the declaration of Adıyaman, Bitlis and Muş provinces as neighbouring provinces (''Mücavir İl'') on 19 July 1987.''Yeni Şafak'', 22 November 2002'Olağanüstü hal' 30 kasımda bitiyor... accessed on 4 September 2009 The legal basis was Cabinet Decree 285 (''285 sayılı Kanun Hükmünde Kararname'') that appointed a regional govern ...

Adıyaman
Adıyaman () is a city in southeastern Turkey. It is the administrative centre of Adıyaman Province and Adıyaman District. Its population is 267,131 (2021). The inhabitants of the city are mostly Turkish and Kurdish. The city was one of the worst affected by the February 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquakes. Many buildings were destroyed and many lives lost in part because bad weather and damage to the transport infrastructure delayed the arrival of rescue teams. Etymology An unverified theory is that the former name of the city, ''Hisn-Mansur'' derives from the name of the Umayyad Emir Mansur ibn Jawana who was killed by the Abbasid Caliph Al-Mansur in this region in 758. Because of the difficulty among the locals in pronouncing ''Hisn-Mansur,'' the corruption ''Semsur'' emerged. Various unverifiable theories exist for the name. History The first settlement on the site of the city was the ancient town of Perrhe, part of the kingdom of Commagene before it became part of the ...

Human Rights
Human rights are universally recognized Morality, moral principles or Social norm, norms that establish standards of human behavior and are often protected by both Municipal law, national and international laws. These rights are considered inherent and inalienable, meaning they belong to every individual simply by virtue of being human, regardless of characteristics like nationality, ethnicity, religion, or socio-economic status. They encompass a broad range of civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights, such as the right to life, freedom of expression, protection against enslavement, and right to education. The modern concept of human rights gained significant prominence after World War II, particularly in response to the atrocities of the Holocaust, leading to the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. Firat News Agency
The Firat News Agency (ANF) (, ) is a Kurdish news agency that gathers and broadcasts news from the Middle East, broadly concerning Kurdish matters. The news agency has offices in Amsterdam and journalists around the world. It has been variously described as pro-Kurdish, pro- PKK, or PKK-affiliated. The CBC and Reuters have described the ANF as being "close" to the PKK, and Deutsche Welle states the two entities have "links". The BBC have alternately labelled the ANF "pro-Kurdish" and "pro-PKK". Because of the ANF's alleged links with the PKK, access to its websites from Turkey has been repeatedly blocked by Turkish courts in what has been described by Danny O'Brien of the Committee to Protect Journalists as a "cat-and-mouse" game. ANF social media accounts active in Turkey have been closed, and its journalists have been detained in Turkey. In addition, Twitter has blocked the ANF at the request of the Turkish government.
