OD2
On Demand Distribution (OD2) was one of the first online music download services, which existed from 1999 until 2009. History On Demand Distribution, short O-D2 or OD2, was founded by English musician Peter Gabriel, Real World, Real World CEO Mike Large and industry executives Charles Grimsdale, Dave Shephard and David Munns in November 1999. The company based their infrastructure on the Windows Media framework. OD2 launched their service on 24 May 2000 in London, offering downloads from initial independent record companies Mushroom, Mute, V2, Real World, and dance music licensing agency Dynamik-Music the following day. After OD2 forged partnerships with record labels BMG, EMI, Warner and the Association of Independent Music (AIM), Universal Music licensed its catalogue to OD2 in 2002. Peter Gabriel
Peter Brian Gabriel (born 13 February 1950) is an English singer, songwriter, musician, and human rights activist. He came to prominence as the original frontman of the rock band Genesis. He left the band in 1975 and launched a solo career with " Solsbury Hill" as his first single. After releasing four successful studio albums, all titled ''Peter Gabriel'', his fifth studio album, '' So'' (1986), became his best-selling release and is certified triple platinum in the UK and five times platinum in the US. MixRadio was an online music streaming service that was operated by Line Corporation at the time of closure. The service was first introduced by Nokia in October 2011 as Nokia Music for Windows Phone, serving as a successor to their previous digital music initiatives that date back to the Nokia Music Store launched in 2007. It was rebranded to MixRadio in November 2013. Line Corporation took control of the service in 2015 and expanded the service to Android and iOS in May 2015. MixRadio was shut down in March 2016. WOW HD is an online store that mainly sells physical copies of pre-recorded music and videos. History Under its previous name, CD WOW!, the retailer began operating in the UK in 2000, offering CDs and DVDs at lower prices than the high street.
