Charles Triplett O'Ferrall
Charles Triplett "Trip" O'Ferrall (October 21, 1840 – September 22, 1905) was a Virginia lawyer, judge and politician who fought as a cavalry officer in the Confederate States Army, then served as a U.S. Representative from 1883 to 1894 and as the 42nd Governor of Virginia from 1894 to 1898. Early and family life Charles O'Ferrall was born in Brucetown, Virginia (then in Frederick County, Virginia, now near Berkeley Springs, West Virginia) to John and Jane Laurens Green O'Ferrall. His father was an innkeeper and former member of the Virginia General Assembly who was elected Clerk of Court of Morgan County in 1851, and trained his son for the job, which as described below, he received at age 17 due to his father's unexpected death. Ernest O'Ferrall
Ernest Francis "Kodak" O'Ferrall (16 November 1881 – 22 March 1925) was an Australian journalist and writer, known for his comic sketches, short-stories and verse published under the pseudonym 'Kodak'. He was on the staff of ''The Bulletin (Australian periodical), The Bulletin'' magazine as a sub-editor and writer from about late 1907 to August 1920, after which he worked for ''Smith's Weekly'' until his death of tuberculosis in March 1925. He was widely-known for his humorous stories and verse published in the aforementioned journals and ''The Lone Hand (magazine), The Lone Hand'', as well as collections in book form, often illustrated by artist colleagues. His verses were used in a series of advertisements for Cobra Boot Polish featuring the character of 'Chunder Loo', illustrated by Lionel Lindsay. Richard More O'Ferrall
Richard More O'Ferrall (10 April 1797 – 27 October 1880) was an Irish politician, a high level British government official and a Governor of Malta. Born to a noble Irish Catholic family at Balyna, he was the eldest son and heir of Ambrose More O'Ferrall, Lord of Laois and Prince of Annally. Educated at Stonyhurst College, More O'Ferrall entered politics young, becoming Member of Parliament for Kildare in 1830. In 1839, More O'Ferrall married Matilda, daughter of The 3rd Viscount Southwell, KP. After holding many senior roles, he was appointed Governor of Malta in 1847, a post he held until 1851. He was known to be a very honourable man and was made a deputy lieutenant and a justice of the peace as well as a Member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom. James Griffin O'Ferrall (born February 2, 2003) is an American professional baseball shortstop in the Baltimore Orioles organization. He played college baseball for the Virginia Cavaliers. The Orioles selected O'Ferrall with the 32nd overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft. Amateur career O'Ferrall attended St. Christopher's School in Richmond, Virginia. In 2021, his senior year, he was named the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for Virginia. After graduating, he played for the Auburn Doubledays of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League, a collegiate summer baseball league. Edward George More O'Ferrall (4 July 1907 – 18 March 1982) was a British film and television producer and director, and actor. Biography More O'Ferrall was born in Bristol, England, to an aristocratic Anglo-Irish family. He was educated at Beaumont College in old Windsor, and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Central School of Dramatic Art. Ronald O'Ferrall
Ronald Stanhope More O’Ferrall was the fourth Anglican Bishop of Madagascar from 1926 until 1940. O'Ferrall was born in 1890 and educated at Charterhouse School and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was ordained in 1915 and was a curate at Chesterfield Parish Church after which he was an assistant priest at St. George's Cathedral, Jerusalem and a housemaster at its adjacent school. He was a Universities' Mission to Central Africa missionary in Northern Rhodesia before his ordination to the episcopate. On his return to England he became an Assistant Bishop of Derby and was the rector of Walton-on-Trent and then the vicar of Repton as well as a teacher at the nearby Repton School. In 1947 he became Provost of Derby, a position he held until 1953. Basil O'Ferrall
Basil Arthur O’Ferrall (24 August 1924 – 23 June 2006) was an Anglican priest in the second half of the 20th century. He was born on 24 August 1924 and educated at St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin, St Patrick’s Cathedral Grammar School, Dublin and Trinity College, Dublin, Trinity College in the same city. He was ordained in 1948 and began his ecclesiastical career with a Curate, curacy at St Patrick’s, Coleraine after which he became a military chaplain, naval chaplain. He served on amongst others , HMS Ganges (shore establishment), HMS ''Ganges'', HMS Adamant (A164), HMS ''Adamant'' and HMS Victorious (R38), HMS ''Victorious'' before becoming Chaplain of the Fleet and Archdeacon of the Royal Navy, a post he held from 1975 to 1980. An Honorary Chaplain to the Queen, he was Vicar of Ranworth with Woodbastwick before becoming Dean of Jersey in 1985. He retired in 1993; and died on 23 June 2006. Notes and references
