The Darkness (band)
The Darkness are a British hard rock band formed in Lowestoft in 2000. The band consists of Justin Hawkins (vocals, guitar), his brother Dan Hawkins (musician), Dan Hawkins (guitar), Frankie Poullain (bass) and Rufus Tiger Taylor (drums). The Darkness came to prominence with the release of their debut album, ''Permission to Land'', in 2003. Backed by the singles "I Believe in a Thing Called Love", "Growing on Me", "Get Your Hands off My Woman", and "Love Is Only a Feeling", the album was certified quadruple platinum in the United Kingdom, with sales of over 1.3 million. Produced by Nick Brine and band members Justin and Dan Hawkins, the album is the band's first since their 2011 reunion, and the first to feature founding bassist Frankie Poullain since the release of '' Permission to Land'' in 2003. Release and reception ''Loudwire'' stated that the song "delivers a retro, rocking anthem bedazzled with big sing-a-long choruses and just enough guitar solos." Chris "Frenchie" Smith (born in Durant, Oklahoma) is an American record producer, guitarist and songwriter. Biography Smith first began as a guitar player in the Austin, Texas noise-pop band Sixteen Deluxe in 1994. The band signed with Warner Bros. in 1996. After Sixteen Deluxe disbanded in 2000, Smith formed Young Heart Attack in 2001 with Steven Hall and Joey Shuffield from Fastball.
