Russell Payne (soccer)
Russell Payne (born July 13, 1975, in Columbia, Maryland) is an American soccer coach and former player. Payne is a former goalkeeper who is currently the head coach of the Northwestern Wildcats men's soccer team. He played professionally in Germany, Ireland and Major League Soccer. Player Youth Payne graduated from Glenelg High School where he was a 1992 Second Team All-Met Boys' Soccer Goalkeeper. He then attended the University of Maryland where he was a four-year (1993–1996) on the men's soccer team. He was an All- ACC selection as a sophomore and led the Atlantic Coast Conference as a senior with a 0.88 goals against average (GAA). He recorded 22.5 shut-outs and made 340 saves during his collegiate career. During that time, Maryland went to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances. Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium (currently known as "Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium" for sponsorship purposes) is an outdoor sports and recreation facility on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. It is the home stadium of the Northwestern Wildcats soccer and lacrosse teams, as well as the current temporary home stadium of the school's football team during the construction of its new permanent stadium. The venue was temporarily enlarged in mid-2024 order to accommodate the interim tenancy of the football program. Jonathan Bornstein
Jonathan Rey Bornstein (born November 7, 1984) is an American former professional soccer player who plays as a left-back. He has captained and made 38 appearances for the United States national team. In addition to also playing for Chivas USA in Major League Soccer (with whom he was the 2006 MLS Rookie of the Year, an MLS Best XI, and a two-time MLS All-Star), he has played in Liga MX and in the Israeli Premier League. Tim Lenahan is an American retired soccer coach known for his 20-year tenure as the head men's soccer coach at Northwestern University starting with the 2001 season. He rebuilt the Northwestern program from a team that had been winless over 35 games in 2000 and 2001 to a national power after previously rebuilding Lafayette and Stockton taking them to 6 NCAA Tournament appearances combined. His teams have made a total of 15 NCAA tournament appearances during his career.
