The College of West Anglia (often abbreviated to CoWA or CWA) is a four-campus college of further and higher education in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk, England. The college has three campuses, located in King's Lynn, Milton and Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, as well as a sports campus at Alive Lynnsport in King's Lynn. The college has approximately 7,400 students and 750 staff. The college is the result of mergers of smaller colleges. King's Lynn Technical School (founded in 1894), King's Lynn, Norfolk. King's Lynn
King's Lynn, known until 1537 as Bishop's Lynn and colloquially as Lynn, is a port and market town in the borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk in the county of Norfolk, England. It is north-east of Peterborough, north-north-east of Cambridge and west of Norwich. History Toponymy The etymology of King's Lynn is uncertain. Barbara Parker (athlete)
Barbara Angela Parker (born 8 November 1982) is an English former track and field athlete who competed for Great Britain. She participated in two Olympic Games and is the former UK record holder in the 3000 metres steeplechase. Biography Parker was born in King's Lynn, Norfolk, England but lived in Alabama. She studied a BTEC National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science at the College of West Anglia from 1999 to 2001. Parker finished second behind Tara Krzywicki in the 2000m steeplechase event at the 2003 AAA Championships. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing,, Parker represented Great Britain in the 3000 metres steeplechase. She was eliminated in the heats, running 9:51.93. Sarah Gillespie is a British American singer songwriter and writer based in London. She has four albums, known for combining poetic lyrics with folk, blues and elements of jazz. Her debut collection of poetry, ''Queen Ithaca Blues'', was published by Albion Beatnik Press. Deaf Havana is an English alternative rock band from Hunstanton and King's Lynn, Norfolk, England. The band was formed in 2005 at the King's Lynn campus of The College of West Anglia. Biography Early days (2005–2008) Deaf Havana was formed when the original members met at the King's Lynn campus of The College of West Anglia. The band's roots can, however, be traced back much further with Ryan Mellor, James Veck-Gilodi and Lee Wilson all attending Smithdon High School and playing together in various local scene bands. At college, these members were joined by Tom Ogden and Sebastian Spitz. This early lineup saw Veck-Gilodi singing and Mellor taking guitar and vocal duties. The name "Deaf Havana" came from former guitarist Sebastian Spitz, however the name itself has no literal meaning. Andrew Hunt (born 9 June 1970) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. Career Born in West Thurrock, Essex, Hunt started his career in non-league football, whilst training in business and tourism management, with King's Lynn and Kettering Town before being signed by then manager Jim Smith for Newcastle United in early 1991. Smith departed soon after, and Hunt continued to play under his successor Ossie Ardiles. However, this was not a successful time for the Magpies, who had fallen into the Second Division in 1989 and failed to make even the playoffs in the 1990-91 season. Daniel Ashworth (born 6 March 1971) is an English football director. He was the sporting director for Premier League clubs Manchester United and Newcastle United. Previously, he worked as technical director for West Bromwich Albion and Brighton & Hove Albion, and was FA director of elite development.
