Noah Van Sciver
Noah Van Sciver (born July 7, 1984) is an independent American cartoonist who resides in Columbia, South Carolina. Early life Van Sciver grew up in a large family in New Jersey. A self-taught artist, he was influenced by many comics, including '' Ralph Snart Adventures'' and comics by Joe Matt and R. Crumb. He and his family were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), but he is no longer a member. His brother Ethan is a comic book artist and an internet personality. Comics Van Sciver began producing his one-person anthology ''Blammo'' in 2006, originally selling them for one dollar. His ''4 Questions'' strip in Denver's alternative weekly, ''Westword'', helped publicize his work when he started publishing it in 2007. After four issues of Blammo, Kilgore Books & Comics published subsequent issues. Liz Prince
Liz Prince (born 1981) is an American comics creator, noted for her sketchbook-style autobiographical comics. Prince initially started publishing on her own on the internet and later became a published author with Top Shelf Comics. She currently lives in Maine. Biography Prince was born in Boston and grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. As a young person, she played Little League baseball in Santa Fe. Prince released her first book, ''Will You Still Love Me If I Wet the Bed?'' in 2005, published by Top Shelf Productions. The book won the Ignatz Award for Outstanding Debut. A work of non-fiction, it tells the story of the early days of the band and how it emerged as part of the San Francisco music scene amid the counterculture of the 1960s. The Small Press Expo (SPX) is an American alternative comics convention. A registered 501(c)(3) that was created in 1994, every year since its inception, SPX has put on a festival, known as The Expo, that provides a forum for artists, writers and publishers of comic art in its various forms to present their creations to the public and to expose the public to comic art not normally accessible through normal commercial channels. The annual SPX festival is typically held in the fall in Bethesda, Maryland. SPX is unique amongst the various comic conventions as it does not allow retailers to have a formal presence at the convention. Only creators and publishers are allowed to set up at the festival, although retailers can and do attend the show with the general public through paid admissions.
