Since the third-generation model, the X-Trail became the same vehicle as the North American market Rogue. For the first time, the X-Trail became available with three-row seating as an option. It also marked a departure in terms of design from a rugged boxy look to a more urban-oriented crossover SUV design. The fourth-generation model, launched for 2021, introduced an e-Power series hybrid powertrain option. __TOC__ First generation (T30; 2000) The T30 series X-Trail was unveiled at the September 2000 Paris Motor Show. It uses the Nissan MS/M&S/FF-S platform, shared with the Almera and the Primera. It entered production in October 2000, and sales in Japan commenced in November. In the United Kingdom and Australia, the X-Trail was launched in October 2001. In June 2003, Nissan gave the car an interior and ext ... Diesel Engine
The diesel engine, named after the German engineer Rudolf Diesel, is an internal combustion engine in which Combustion, ignition of diesel fuel is caused by the elevated temperature of the air in the cylinder due to Mechanics, mechanical Compression (physics), compression; thus, the diesel engine is called a compression-ignition engine (CI engine). This contrasts with engines using spark plug-ignition of the air-fuel mixture, such as a petrol engine (gasoline engine) or a gas engine (using a gaseous fuel like natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas). Introduction Diesel engines work by compressing only air, or air combined with residual combustion gases from the exhaust (known as exhaust gas recirculation, "EGR"). Air is inducted into the chamber during the intake stroke, and compressed during the compression stroke. This increases air temperature inside the Cylinder (engine), cylinder so that atomised diesel fuel injected into the combustion chamber ignites. The torque a dies ... Turbocharger
In an internal combustion engine, a turbocharger (also known as a turbo or a turbosupercharger) is a forced induction device that is powered by the flow of exhaust gases. It uses this energy to compress the intake air, forcing more air into the engine in order to produce more power for a given displacement. Turbochargers are distinguished from superchargers in that a turbocharger is powered by the kinetic energy of the exhaust gases, whereas a is mechanically powered (usually by a belt from the engine's crankshaft). However, up until the mid-20th century, a turbocharger was called a "turbosupercharger" and was considered a type of supercharger. Nissan SR Engine
The SR engine is a series of , or Inline-four engine, straight-four, four-stroke engine, four-stroke gasoline internal combustion engine, engines manufactured by Nissan Motors, Nissan. It has an aluminium head and block with steel Cylinder (engine)#Cylinder sleeving, sleeves and has a Overhead camshaft engine#Double overhead camshaft (DOHC), DOHC 4-valve design, with variable valve timing on select models. It was added to a new engine family name PLASMA (Powerful & Economic, Lightweight, Accurate, Silent, Mighty, Advanced). The engine was used in many small to medium Nissan vehicles, including high-performance turbocharged variants. It was designed by Nissan as a replacement of the earlier Nissan CA engine, CA series of engines, and was replaced by the Nissan QR engine, QR and Nissan MR engine, MR series of engines. Power outputs are shown under Horsepower#Japanese Industrial Standard D 1001, JIS Net Horsepower#Metric horsepower (PS, cv, hk, pk, ks, ch), PS or Horsepower#Econo ... Straight-four Engine
A straight-four engine (also referred to as an inline-four engine) is a four-cylinder Reciprocating engine, piston engine where cylinders are arranged in a line along a common crankshaft. The majority of automotive four-cylinder engines use a straight-four layout (with the exceptions of the flat-four engines produced by Subaru and Porsche) and the layout is also very common in motorcycles and other machinery. Therefore the term "four-cylinder engine" is usually synonymous with straight-four engines. When a straight-four engine is installed at an inclined angle (instead of with the cylinders oriented vertically), it is sometimes called a Slant-4 engine, slant-four. Between 2005 and 2008, the proportion of new vehicles sold in the United States with four-cylinder engines rose from 30% to 47%. By the 2020 model year, the share for light-duty vehicles had risen to 59%. Design A four-stroke straight-four engine always has a cylinder on its power stroke, unlike engines with fewer ... Nissan QR Engine
The QR family of inline-four piston engines by Nissan were introduced in 2000 and range from in displacement. These motors are aluminum, dual overhead camshaft (DOHC), four-valve designs with variable valve timing and optional direct injection. The engine shares much of its architecture with the YD diesel engine. QR20DE QR20DE The QR20DE produces at 6000 rpm and at 4000 rpm. The bore and stroke is and a compression ratio of 9.9:1. The QR20DE was replaced with the MR20DE engine in most applications in early 2005. Vehicle applications: * 2001-2007 Nissan X-Trail T30, * 2001-2007 Nissan Primera P12 * 2002–present Nissan Serena C24, * 2003-2008 Nissan Teana J31, * 2001-2005 Nissan Wingroad Y11 * 2002-2005 Nissan Avenir W11 * 2001-2004 Nissan Prairie M12 * 2007-2020 Nissan Atlas F24 * 2014-present Nissan Urvan E26 QR20DD The QR20DD is similar to the QR20DE but features NEO direct injection to improve fuel economy and to reduce emissionIt produces at 6 ... Petrol Engine
A petrol engine (gasoline engine in American and Canadian English) is an internal combustion engine designed to run on petrol (gasoline). Petrol engines can often be adapted to also run on fuels such as liquefied petroleum gas and ethanol blends (such as '' E10'' and '' E85''). They may be designed to run on petrol with a higher octane rating, as sold at petrol stations. Most petrol engines use spark ignition, unlike diesel engines which run on diesel fuel and typically use compression ignition. Another key difference to diesel engines is that petrol engines typically have a lower compression ratio. History The first practical petrol engine was built in 1876 in Germany by Nicolaus August Otto and Eugen Langen, although there had been earlier attempts by Étienne Lenoir in 1860, Siegfried Marcus in 1864 and George Brayton in 1873. Design Thermodynamic cycle Most petrol engines use either the four-stroke Otto cycle or the two-stroke cycle. Petrol engines have also ... The Sentra nameplate is not used in Japan. Many other countries in Latin America sell their versions of the Sunny as the Sentra. In Mexico, the first three generations of the Sentra were known as the Nissan Tsuru (Japanese for crane), and the B13 model was sold under that name until 2017, alongside the updated models badged as Sentra. In North America, the Sentra currently serves as Nissan's compact car, despite being rated as a mid-size car by the EPA due to its interior volume since the 2007 model year. While previous Sentras were subcompacts, the Sentra has grown over the years, with the Nissan Versa ha ...
