Nigeria competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the nation made its debut in 1952, Nigerian athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympic Games, with the exception of the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal because of the African boycott. Nigeria Olympic Committee
The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) is the National Olympic Committee for Nigeria, responsible for co-ordinating and supporting Nigerian competitors in the Olympic Games. It is also the body responsible for Nigeria's representation at the Commonwealth Games. Leadership The President of the NOC as of 2011 was Sani Ndanusa who had been Minister of Sports from 17 December 2008 to 17 March 2010. Ndanusa first said he aspired to become NOC President when he was Minister of Sports, but in November 2009 the NOC screening committee disqualified him on the basis that documents he had submitted were allegedly "forged, altered and not dated". The badminton tournaments at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place between 24 July and 2 August 2021. A total of 172 athletes (86 male and 86 female players) competed in five events: men's singles, men's doubles, women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. The men's 200 metres event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 3 and 4 August 2021 at the Olympic Stadium. 48 athletes from 33 nations competed, including five universality places (one universality place was used in 2016). Canada earned its first gold medal in the event since 1928 and third overall, as Andre De Grasse added gold to his 2016 silver to become the 12th man to earn multiple medals in the 200 metres. Divine Oduduru
Ejowvokoghene Divine Oduduru (born 7 October 1996) is a Nigerian sprinter specializing in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash. He holds personal bests of 9.86 seconds for the 100 m and 19.73 seconds for the 200 m. The latter is a Nigerian national record. In age category competitions, he was a twice-champion at the African Youth Athletics Championships, a five-time African Junior Champion in the sprints and the 200 m silver medallist at the 2014 World Junior Championships. He represented his country as a senior athlete at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2014 African Championships in Athletics, before winning 200 m silver medals at the 2015 and 2019 African Games as well as the 2018 African Championships. Usheoritse Ese Itsekiri (born 31 January 1998) is a Nigerian sprinter. He was the 2018 Nigerian National Sports Festival champion and the 2019 African Games bronze medallist in the 100 metres. He also won a silver medal in the relay at these games. At the 2019 Nigerian Championships in Kaduna, he took both the 100 and 200 metres titles. These were his first senior national titles. This effectively ended Seye Ogunlewe's streak of three consecutive national titles in the 100 m. He had previously been the national junior champion in 2017, in a race that saw him deny Raymond Ekevwo a successful defense of the junior title. Enoch Obaloluwa Adegoke (born 8 March 2000) is a Nigerian sprinter. He was the 2019 African U20 champion in the 100 metres. He is also an Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games finalist in the 100 metres. At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, he competed in both the 100 metres and the 4x100 metres relay. In the 100 metres, Adegoke won both his heat and semi-final to progress to the final where he finished seventh in a time of 10.35s. Career 2018 Commonwealth Games and African Championships Early in 2018, Adegoke won the 100m at the Nigerian Commonwealth Games trials in a personal best time of 10.31s. The rowing competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place between 23 and 30 July 2021 at the Sea Forest Waterway ( Central Breakwater) in Tokyo Bay. Fourteen medal events were contested by 526 athletes (263 men and women each). Competition format The rowing programme featured a total of fourteen events, seven each for both men and women in identical boat classes.
