Nick Thompson (field Hockey)
Nicholas Thompson (born 21 September 1967) is a British former field hockey player who competed in the 1996 Summer Olympics. He gained 196 caps and scored 58 goals. Biography Thompson, born in Hackney, only picked up a hockey stick in 1981 aged 14 but by 1983 was representing the England U16 team. Thompson played club hockey for Old Loughtonians Hockey Club in the Men's England Hockey League from 1986 and was involved in the Seoul 1988 Olympic training squad. He was selected for the 1990 Men's Hockey World Cup. After missing selection for the 1992 Olympics he was added to the squad for the 1994 Men's Hockey World Cup. Still at Old Loughtonians he was selected for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and participated in the 1998 Men's Hockey World Cup. Old Loughtonians Hockey Club
Old Loughtonians Hockey Club is a field hockey club based at the Roding Sports Centre, Luxborough Lane in Chigwell. Club The club runs eight men's and six women's teams in addition to junior teams from u7s to u18s. The men's first XI play in the Division 1 South of the Men's England Hockey League. 2003–04 England Hockey League Season
The 2003–04 English Hockey League season took place from September 2003 until May 2004. The men's title was won by Cannock for the second consecutive year with the women's title going to Hightown. There were no playoffs to determine champions or relegation after the regular season but there was a competition for the top six clubs called the Premiership tournament which culminated in a final held at Old Loughtonians Hockey Club on 9 May. The Men's Cup was won by Reading and the Women's Cup was won by Hightown. The 1998 Men's Hockey World Cup was the ninth edition of the Men's Hockey World Cup, the quadrennial world championship for men's national field hockey teams organized by the International Hockey Federation. Cannock Hockey Club are an English professional field hockey team. They were established in 1905, and are based in the village of Hatherton, near Cannock, Staffordshire. Both the men's and women's first teams play in the England Hockey League Premier Division, the top division of hockey in England.
