Nomadik
Nomadik is a family of microprocessors for multimedia applications from STMicroelectronics, and later ST-NXP Wireless. It was originally based on the ARM9 (and later ARM11) ARM architecture(s), and was designed specifically for use in mobile devices. On December 12, 2002, STMicroelectronics and Texas Instruments jointly announced an initiative for ''Open Mobile Application Processor Interfaces'' (OMAPI) intended to be used with 2G, 2.5 and 3G mobile phones, that were going to be produced during 2003. (This was later merged into a larger initiative and renamed the Mobile Industry Processor Interface, MIPI alliance.) The Nomadik was STMicroelectronics' implementation of the MIPI_Alliance, MIPI interconnect standard. Nomadik was first presented on October 7, 2003 in the CEATEC show in Tokyo, and later that year the Nomadik won the Microprocessor Report Analysts' Choice Award for application processors. History In early 2009, when development had already begun on a Nomadik SoC called STn8500, it was superseded by the NovaThor family from ST-Ericsson and renamed U8500 as the ST-NXP Wireless division was merged into the ST-Ericsson joint venture. On November 2, 2011, Nokia announced that NovaThor SoCs will power Nokia's future Windows Phone based smartphones, making a deviation from the standard use of Qualcomm Snapdragon SoCs in Windows Phones. On February 28, 2012, ST-Ericsson announced that they would switch to fully depleted silicon on insulator (FD-S ...

Sony Ericsson P1
The Sony Ericsson P1 is a mobile phone and the successor of the P990. It was the last of the Sony Ericsson "P" Smartphone series, introduced in 2002 with the Sony Ericsson P800 and it integrates many of the hardware features of its predecessor the P990 in the form factor of the M600. It was announced on 8 May 2007. There is a Chinese version of P1 called P1c. Compare with P1/ P1i, P1c lacks of 3G, thereby using EDGE which is much slower but more available especially in the US and parts of Europe. The phone uses the UIQ 3.0 software platform, which is based upon Symbian OS 9.1. It is slightly thicker than the M600 as a result of the new hardware features, but this is reportedly largely indiscernible. It is nonetheless considerably thinner than the P990 (25% smaller - as the official press review states). Key improvements While the phone used the same Nexperia PNX4008 processor as its predecessor, the included RAM was doubled to 128 MB, resulting in significantly more fr ...
