NewsNet (stylized as NEWSnet) was an American news-oriented free-to-air television network and newscast production company owned by Bridge News, LLC, which itself is owned by Manoj Bhargava's Bridge Media Networks. The network was structured to broadcast a tightly-formatted 30-minute newswheel 24 hours a day, incorporating freshly-updated information that covers various areas of interest (such as national news, sports, entertainment, weather and business). Breaking news stories were updated constantly as they developed and new information became available. In addition to being carried on digital subchannels of affiliated television stations, NewsNet also distributed its programming through a livestream that is available on its website, as well as its mobile app in areas where it did not have a terrestrial TV affiliate. WMNN-LD (channel 26) is a low-power television station licensed to Lake City, Michigan, United States, serving the Cadillac–Traverse City area as an affiliate of the home shopping network ShopHQ. It is owned by Bridge Media Networks alongside dual MyNetworkTV/Cozi TV affiliate WXII-LD (channel 12). The two stations share studios on West 13th Street in Cadillac; WMNN-LD's transmitter is located off M-55 east of the city. WMNN-LD served as the flagship station of the 24/7 headline news service NewsNet until the network shut down in August 2024. WXII-LD (channel 12) is a low-power television station in Cedar, Michigan, United States, serving the Traverse City–Cadillac area with programming from Cozi TV and MyNetworkTV. Owned by Bridge Media Networks, it is sister to Lake City-licensed NewsNet flagship WMNN-LD (channel 26). Both stations share studios on West 13th Street in Cadillac, while WXII-LD's transmitter is located west of downtown Traverse City near Harris and Cedar Run roads. Despite having a digital signal of its own, WXII-LD is only 1.5 kW whereas WMNN-LD is 15 kW, so WXII-LD is simulcast over WMNN-LD's third digital subchannel (26.3) to expand its over-the-air reach. LocalBTV was an American streaming television service based in Los Altos, California and owned by Didja. The service allowed subscribers to view live and DVR recorded streams of over-the-air television as well as national channels on Internet-connected devices. Background Similar in concept to the defunct services Locast and Aereo, LocalBTV offered local channels via streaming. However, LocalBTV had indicated they would only carry local channels that permit them to do so, thus avoiding the legal issues Aereo had, and more recently, Locast.
