The neighborhoods of Beersheba are urban and residential districts in the city of Beersheba, Southern District, Israel. Old City The Old City (, ''HaIr HaAtika'') ( (''al balad alqafima'') is the historical center of Beersheba. Based on the core of the old Ottoman-era built town, it was expanded by the British during the Mandate era. Street signs in English from the Mandate era are still visible on many street corners. Laid out in a grid pattern, it consists mostly of one- and two-floor stone buildings, although some taller buildings were recently built. The old Turkish buildings dating back about 100 years are mostly in a state of neglect although some exceptions can be found where private individuals or organizations have renovated them. Until the late 1990s, the Old City was the commercial hub of Beersheba. Australian Soldier Park
The Australian Soldier Park, in Beersheba, Israel is dedicated to the memory of the Australian Light Horse regiments, that captured the town from the Ottoman Empire during World War I. The park was established in 2008 on a large area, and is maintained by a team of its own employees. On its eastern corner there is a memorial statue of a mounted Australian lighthorseman as well as documentary materiel on aluminum boards, written in three languages. The park also includes an area for picnics, gardens, artificial waterfalls, a maze, and a large playground under a circuses-tent-like shade that protects visitors from the desert sunlight. Most of the playground facilities are fully accessible for children who use wheelchairs. The Arthur Vasermil Municipal Stadium was a football stadium in Be’er Sheva, Israel. The stadium was designed as an open bowl (though a small part of one side was covered). At one stage it had a running track that was later bricked over. In its final form the stadium was all-seated with a capacity of 13,000.
