Netball
Netball is a ball sport played on a rectangular court by two teams of seven players. The primary objective is to shoot a ball through the defender's goal ring while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own. It is one of a few sports created exclusively for women and girls, and it remains primarily played by them, on indoor and outdoor courts, especially in schools, and most popularly in the Commonwealth of Nations. According to World Netball, the sport is played by more than 20 million people in more than 80 countries. World Netball comprises more than 70 national teams organized into five global regions. Major domestic leagues in the sport include the Netball Superleague in Great Britain, Suncorp Super Netball in Australia, and the ANZ Premiership in New Zealand. The Super Netball League (known predominantly by its sponsored name Suncorp Group, Suncorp Super Netball (SSN)) is a professional netball league in Netball in Australia, Australia. It superseded the trans-Tasman ANZ Championship, which also included teams from Netball in New Zealand, New Zealand, as the top-level netball league in Australia in 2017. The Netball Super League is an elite netball league in the United Kingdom. The league is organised by England Netball but features teams based in Netball in England, England, Netball in Wales, Wales and previously Netball in Scotland, Scotland. The Super League commenced at the 2005–06 Netball Superleague season, 2005–06 season, replacing the AENA Super Cup, Super Cup as the elite netball competition in England. From 2016 Netball Superleague season, 2016-21 the league was Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by VitalityHealth and, as a result, Naming rights, known as the Vitality Netball Super League. World Netball Championships
The Netball World Cup is a quadrennial international netball world championship organised by World Netball, inaugurated in 1963. Since its inception the competition has been dominated primarily by the Australia national netball team and the New Zealand national netball team, Trinidad and Tobago is the only other team to have won a title (a three-way tie in the 1979 championship). The most recent tournament was the 2023 Netball World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa, which was won by Australia. The Netball at the 2006 Commonwealth Games was the third Commonwealth Games tournament. The preliminary matches were held at the State Netball and Hockey Centre with the finals being held at the multi-purpose Melbourne Park in the inner city. Netball was among the most popular sports with viewers at this Games, with most tickets selling out in the initial ballot, and no more being available until a second release in the week before the Games - a rare event in a competition where many tickets remained unsold in the final week before the start of competition. Netball Australia is the main governing body for netball in Australia. It is affiliated to World Netball. It is responsible for organising and administering the Australia national netball team, Suncorp Super Netball, Australian National Netball Championships, and the Australian Netball Championships. Fiji National Netball Team
The Fiji National Netball Team better known at the Fiji Pearls represents Fiji in international netball competition. Fiji have competed at nine World Netball Championships, finishing sixth in their best placing at the 1999 tournament. They have also competed at two Commonwealth Games, and won the netball event at the South Pacific Games for a number of years. They have won gold at every games since 1991. Netball at the Commonwealth Games, together with the Netball World Cup, is one of the two major tournaments in international netball. The Netball Quad Series, also referred to as the SANZEA Netball Quad Series, is an international netball series. The Malawi national netball team, nicknamed "The Queens", represent Malawi in international netball competitions.
