"Nessuno" (literally "Nobody") is a 1959 Italian song composed by Antonietta De Simone and Edilio Capotosti. The song premiered at the ninth edition of the Sanremo Music Festival, with a double performance by Wilma De Angelis and Betty Curtis, and placed at the eighth place. Ignored by the public in its original versions, the song got a large commercial success thanks to the rock'n'roll version recorded by Mina. Mina's version was performed in fortissimo and in a syncopated style, distorting the linearity of the original melody. Mina Anna Maria Mazzini (born 25 March 1940) or Mina Anna Quaini (for the Swiss civil registry), known mononymously as Mina, is an Italian-Swiss singer and actress. She was a staple of television variety shows and a dominant figure in Italian pop music from the 1960s to the mid-1970s, known for her three-octave vocal range, the agility of her soprano voice, and her image as an emancipated woman. In performance, Mina combined several modern styles with traditional Italian melodies and swing music, which made her the most versatile pop singer in Italian music. Tonina Torrielli (born 22 March 1934) is an Italian singer. In 1956, she represented Italy in the first Eurovision Song Contest with the song " Amami se vuoi", alongside Franca Raimondi with " Aprite le finestre". It is unknown what position the song finished, since the vote was secret and only the winning song was announced. Miranda Martino (born 29 October 1933) is an Italian singer and actress. Life and career Born in Moggio Udinese from Neapolitan parents, Martino started her career as singer in 1956. In 1957, she debuted at the Festival di Napoli and in 1959 she made her first appearance at the Sanremo Music Festival, with the song "La vita mi ha dato solo te". In the same year she obtained her first commercial success with the song "Stasera tornerò", which ranked 11 in the Italian Hit Parade. Then she entered the two following editions of the Festival di Sanremo and in 1961 three of her songs entered the Top Ten ("Erano nuvole", "Frenesia" and "Serenatella c'o sì e c'o no"). Nico Fidenco (artistic name Domenico Colarossi; 24 January 1933 – 19 November 2022) was an Italian singer and film soundtrack composer who gained considerable popularity in 1960 with the release of the song "What a Sky" (Italian: "''Su nel cielo''"), taken from the film ''Silver Spoon Set'' by Francesco Maselli. Self-taught in music, Fidenco did a few cover versions of film title songs for the Italian market. Rosario Tindaro Fiorello (born 16 May 1960), known just as Fiorello, is an Italian comedian, singer, radio, and television presenter. Career Fiorello was born in Catania, Sicily, and raised in Augusta, Sicily. He began his career working in tourist villages, first as a barman, and then as an entertainer. Antonio Lardera (born 30 June 1936), better known by his stage name Tony Dallara, is an Italian former singer, actor and television personality. Biography Dallara was born in Campobasso in southern Italy, but grew up in Milan. After working as barman and clerk, he began his musical career in the band Rocky Mountains (the future group I Campioni); his singing style was inspired, in particular, by American singers such as Frankie Laine and Tony Williams. Johnny Dorelli (real name Giorgio Guidi; born 20 February 1937) is an Italian actor, singer and television host. Early life Dorelli was born in Meda, Italy. In 1946 he moved to New York City with his family, where his father, Nino D'Aurelio (born Aurelio Guidi), found work as opera singer. Dorelli studied double bass and piano at the High School of Music and Art in New York. He took the stage name Dorelli in imitation of how the surname D'Aurelio was pronounced in English. His show business career began when he was discovered by bandleader Percy Faith, who brought him on The Ken Murray Show.
