Neptune Trojan
Neptune trojans are bodies that orbit the Sun near one of the stable Lagrangian points of Neptune, similar to the trojans of other planets. They therefore have approximately the same orbital period as Neptune and follow roughly the same orbital path. Thirty-one Neptune trojans are currently known, of which 27 orbit near the Sun–Neptune Lagrangian point 60° ahead of Neptune and four orbit near Neptune's region 60° behind Neptune. The Neptune trojans are termed 'trojans' by analogy with the Jupiter trojans. The discovery of in a high-inclination (>25°) orbit was significant, because it suggested a "thick" cloud of trojans ( Jupiter trojans have inclinations up to 40°), which is indicative of freeze-in capture instead of in situ or collisional formation. Horseshoe Orbit
In celestial mechanics, a horseshoe orbit is a type of co-orbital motion of a small orbiting body relative to a larger orbiting body. The osculating (instantaneous) orbital period of the smaller body remains very near that of the larger body, and if its orbit is a little more eccentric than that of the larger body, during every period it appears to trace an ellipse around a point on the larger object's orbit. However, the loop is not closed but drifts forward or backward so that the point it circles will appear to move smoothly along the larger body's orbit over a long period of time. When the object approaches the larger body closely at either end of its trajectory, its apparent direction changes. 385695 Clete, provisional designation , is a Neptune trojan, co-orbital with the ice giant Neptune, approximately in diameter. It was named after Clete, one of the Amazons from Greek mythology. The minor planet was discovered on 8 October 2005, by American astronomers Scott Sheppard and Chad Trujillo at Las Campanas Observatory in Chile. 23 known Neptune trojans have already been discovered. Numbering and naming This minor planet was named from Greek mythology after Clete, a member of the Amazons, an all-female warrior tribe that fought in the Trojan War on the side of the Trojans against the Greek. Clete was one of the twelve followers of the Amazonian queen Penthesilea and went looking for her after she went missing during the war. In Greek mythology, Otrera ( ''Otrērē'') was the founder and first Queen of the Amazons; the consort of Ares and mother of Hippolyta and Penthesilea. She is credited with being the founder of the shrine of Artemis in Ephesus. 385571 Otrera, provisional designation , is a Neptune trojan leading Neptune's orbit in the outer Solar System. It was discovered by American astronomers Scott Sheppard and Chad Trujillo at Las Campanas Observatory on 16 October 2004. It measures approximately 100 kilometers in diameter and was the second such body to be discovered after . A comet is an icy, small Solar System body that warms and begins to release gases when passing close to the Sun, a process called outgassing.
