The Chinese term ''nianfo'' is a translation of Sanskrit ''Buddhānusmṛti, '' ("recollection of the Buddhahood, Buddha"), a classic Buddhist Sati (Buddhism), mindfulness (smṛti) practice. Nianfo focused on the Buddha Amitābha is also the most important practice in Pure Land Buddhism. The ''Ekottara Āgama'' (Sanskrit; ) is an early Indian Buddhist text, of which currently only a Chinese translation is extant ( Taishō Tripiṭaka 125). The Pāḷi Canon is the standard collection of scriptures in the Theravada Buddhism, Buddhist tradition, as preserved in the Pāli language.
