Navarro County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 52,624. Its county seat is Corsicana. The county is named for José Antonio Navarro, a Tejano leader in the Texas Revolution who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence. Navarro County comprises the Corsicana micropolitan statistical area, which is also part of the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX combined statistical area. José Antonio Navarro
José Antonio Navarro (February 27, 1795 – January 13, 1871) was a Texas statesman, revolutionary, rancher, and merchant. The son of Ángel Navarro and Josefa María Ruiz y Peña, he was born into a distinguished noble family at San Antonio de Béxar in the Viceroyalty of New Spain (now the American city of San Antonio, Texas). His uncle was José Francisco Ruiz and his brother-in-law was Juan Martín de Veramendi. Navarro County, Texas, established in 1846, is named in his honor, as is the small town of Navarro, Texas.Lozano (1985), p. 30. I-45 (TX)
Interstate 45 (I-45) is a major Interstate Highway located entirely within the U.S. state of Texas. While most primary Interstate routes which have numbers ending in "5" are cross-country north–south routes, I-45 is comparatively short, with the entire route located within Texas. Additionally, it has the shortest length of all the primary Interstates divisible by 5, and the only intrastate Interstate Highway of such. It connects the cities of Dallas and Houston, continuing southeast from Houston to Galveston over the Galveston Causeway to the Gulf of Mexico. I-45 replaced U.S. Highway 75 (US 75) over its entire length, although portions of US 75 remained parallel to I-45 until its elimination south of Downtown Dallas in 1987. At the south end of I-45, State Highway 87 (SH 87, formerly part of US 75) continues into downtown Galveston. Henderson County, Texas
Henderson County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 82,150. The county seat is Athens. The county is named in honor of James Pinckney Henderson, the first attorney general of the Republic of Texas, and secretary of state for the republic. He later served as the first governor of Texas. Henderson County was established in 1846, the year after Texas gained statehood. Its first town was Buffalo, laid out in 1847. Henderson County comprises the Athens micropolitan statistical area, which is also included in the Dallas- Fort Worth combined statistical area. Texas State Highway 309
State Highway 309 (SH 309) is a Texas state highway that runs from Kerens south to U.S. Highway 287 near the Richland-Chambers Reservoir. This route was designated on February 20. 1939 along its current path, which extended another mile to the south. On March 29, 1990, SH 309 was rerouted in Kerens along Senter Avenue rather than Fourth Street and Colket Avenue. This section, from the new route of US 287 south to the old location of US 287, was removed on November 29, 1990, as portions of the route and US 287 were submerged by the newly impounded Richland Chambers Reservoir. Route description SH 309 begins at boat ramp south of US 287 on the Richland-Chambers Reservoir and heads north to a junction with US 287. Texas State Highway 75
State Highway 75 (SH 75) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Texas. It follows the former routing of U.S. Route 75 (US 75), which was supplanted by Interstate 45 south of Dallas, except in Dallas, where the former US 75 is now SH 310, and through Ferris, Palmer, Ennis, and Corsicana, where the old highway is signed as a business route of I-45. The route was designated in 1987. Route description The southern terminus of the route is in Conroe, where it merges into Interstate 45 at the southern side of Loop 336. State Highway 31 (SH 31) runs from U.S. 84 northeast of Waco via Corsicana, Athens, Tyler, Kilgore to U.S. 80 in Longview. History SH 31 was a route proposed on October 9, 1917 to run from Waco northeast via Corsicana and Athens to Tyler, which remains the western portion of its current route to this day. On November 27, 1922, the route had been extended northeast to Gladewater, replacing part of SH 15 so that SH 15 had only one route west of Gladewater. On October 26, 1932, SH 31 Spur was designated through Malakoff. On September 26, 1939, the section from Tyler to Gladewater was reassigned to U.S. 271 (which it had been cosigned with earlier), with SH 31 now being extended east to Kilgore over former SH 176. State Highway 14 (SH 14) is a state highway in the east central region of the U.S. state of Texas. The highway runs from SH 6 south of Bremond to Interstate 45 in Richland. Route description State Highway 14 begins at an intersection with SH 6 about 3 miles southwest of Bremond. The route travels northeastward through Bremond, mainly through farmland in central Texas, passing through the western edge of Kosse, intersecting SH 7, then briefly runs through Thornton before reaching Groesbeck, intersecting SH 164.
