Nauru Reed Warbler
The Nauru reed warbler () (''Acrocephalus rehsei'') is a passerine bird endemism, endemic to the island of Nauru in the Pacific Ocean. It is one of only two native breeding land-birds on Nauru and it is the only passerine found on the island. It is related to other Micronesian Acrocephalus (bird), reed warblers, all of which evolved from one of several adaptive radiation, radiations of the genus across the Pacific. Related warblers on nearby islands include the Caroline reed warbler, with which the Nauru species was initially confused, and the nightingale reed warbler, which was formerly sometimes considered the same species. A medium-sized Acrocephalidae, warbler, the Nauru reed warbler has dark brown upperparts, cream underparts and a long, thin beak. Otto Finsch
Friedrich Hermann Otto Finsch (8 August 1839, Warmbrunn – 31 January 1917, Braunschweig) was a German ethnographer, natural history, naturalist and colonial explorer. He is known for a two-volume monograph on the parrots of the world which earned him a doctorate. He also wrote on the people of New Guinea and was involved in plans for German colonization in Southeast Asia. Several species of bird (such as ''Oenanthe finschii'', ''Iole finschii'', ''Psittacula finschii'') are named after him as also the town of Finschhafen in Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea and a crater on the Moon. The Australian reed warbler (''Acrocephalus australis'') is an Old World warbler in the genus ''Acrocephalus (bird), Acrocephalus'' and is the only ''Acrocephalus'' species native to Australia.
