Natural Monuments Of Mexico
Mexico's natural monuments (or ''Monumentos Naturales'' in Spanish language, Spanish) are protected natural areas of Mexico, protected natural areas. Five areas – Bonampak, Cerro de La Silla, Río Bravo del Norte, Yagul, and Yaxchilán – are designated by the Mexican federal government and are administrated by the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP). San Luis Potosí
San Luis Potosí, officially the Free and Sovereign State of San Luis Potosí, is one of the 32 states which compose the Federal Entities of Mexico. Oaxaca, officially the Free and Sovereign State of Oaxaca, is one of the 32 states that compose the political divisions of Mexico, Federative Entities of the Mexico, United Mexican States. Yagul
Yagul is an archaeological site and former city-state associated with the Zapotec civilization of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica, located in the Mexican state of Oaxaca. The site was declared one of the country's four Natural Monuments on 13 October 1998. The site is also known locally as ''Pueblo Viejo'' (Old Village) and was occupied at the time of the Spanish Conquest. After the Conquest the population was relocated to the nearby modern town of Tlacolula where their descendants still live.Winter 1998, p.119. Yagul was first occupied around 500-100 BC. Around 500-700 AD, residential, civic and ceremonial structures were built at the site. However, most of the visible remains date to 1250-1521 AD, when the site functioned as the capital of a Postclassic city-state. Siete Luminarias
Siete Luminarias (the Seven Luminarias) is a group of seven extinct volcanoes in central Mexico, located in and around the town of Valle de Santiago in the state of Guanajuato. Geography The Siete Luminarias are low-rimmed volcanoes, or maars, with steep-sided, flat-bottomed central craters up to one kilometer in diameter.
