Nationalliga A (American Football)
The Nationalliga A is the highest league level of American football in Switzerland and was formed in 1982. The first Swiss Bowl championship was played in 1986. Below the ''Nationalliga A'' sits the ''Nationalliga B'', also made up of six teams. The champion of the B division has the opportunity to earn promotion to the top division through a relegation/promotion match. There is also a National League C. The league season runs from late March to the end of June, followed by the play-offs and the Swiss Bowl which is held in July. Chris Markey
Christopher Henry Markey (born September 23, 1985) is an American former professional football player who was a running back. He played college football for the UCLA Bruins from 2004 to 2007. He started in the 2006 and 2007 seasons, and also briefly began in the 2004 season after Maurice Jones-Drew was injured. Markey later played professionally in Europe for two seasons in the Swiss Nationalliga A. Early life Chris was born to parents of African-American descent, who are products of Southeastern Louisiana. Hugh Mendez
Hugh Brooks Mendez (1935 – 2013) was an American football and baseball player and coach. He served as the head baseball coach at Whittier College in Whittier, California from 1971 to 1987. He also served as Whittier's head football coach from 1980 to 1989, winning two conference championships Hugh B.Mendez stadium was dedicated in his honor by Whittier College in 2018. Mendez was also inducted to the Whittier College Athletic Hall of Fame. Larry Legault
Larry Legault (born in Canada) has coached American football in France for several years as well as in Switzerland. He has a leadership of the Thonon Black Panthers since 2005. Today, he is a technical director of the team and is also the coach of France National Team. He was previously head coach of the Aix-en-Provence Argonautes from 1990-1993. Legault also spent seasons as the head coach of the Geneva Seahawks of the Nationalliga A (American football) in Switzerland. Tony De'Angelo Simmons (born December 8, 1974) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). Adam Rita (born September 21, 1947) is a gridiron football coach & general manager, most notably in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He has served as the head coach of the Toronto Argonauts, Ottawa Rough Riders, and BC Lions and as general manager of the Lions and Argonauts. Bill Ramseyer
Bill Ramseyer (November 29, 1936 – February 18, 2021) was an American football coach, player of football and baseball, and college athletics administrator. College career Before his coaching career, Ramseyer competed on both the football and track and field teams at Bluffton University. He served as the head football coach at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio from 1972 to 1990 and at the University of Virginia's College at Wise from 1991 to 2001 compiling a career college football record of 176–104–4. Randy Hippeard (born December 6, 1985) is an American former professional football quarterback who played in the Arena Football League (AFL). He is currently the offensive coordinator for the Billings Outlaws of Arena Football One (AF1).
