Nagara (ancient City)
Nagara (), also known as Dionysopolis (), was an ancient city in the northwest part of ("India (Herodotus), India within the Ganges"), distinguished in Ptolemy by the title 'also Dionysopolis'. It also appears in sources as Nagarahara, and was situated between the Kabul River and the Indus, in present-day Afghanistan. The site of Nagara is usually associated with a large stupa called Nagara Ghundi, about west of Jalalabad near Tepe Khwaja Lahori, south of the junction of the Surkhab River, Surkhäb and Kabul rivers, where ancient ruins have been found. Dionysopolis and Nysa From the second name which Ptolemy has preserved, Dionysopolis, we are led to believe that this is the same place as Nysa (mythology), Nysa () or Nyssa (), which, according to ancient historians, was spared from plunder and destruction by Alexander the Great because the inhabitants asserted that it had been founded by Dionysus, when he conquered the area and he named the city Nysa and the land Nysaea ...

Nagara-class Cruiser
The six were a class of six light cruisers built for and operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy. The ''Nagara''-class cruisers proved useful in combat operations ranging from the Aleutian Islands to the Indian Ocean throughout World War II. Most served as flagships for destroyer or submarine squadrons, and were deployed for transport or local defense missions. Towards the end of the war, the surviving vessels were increasingly obsolete and were retained as second-line units.Stille, ''Imperial Japanese Navy Light Cruisers 1941-45'', page 22 The ''Nagara'' class was followed by the very similar . Background A final three 5,500 ton class light cruisers authorized under the 8-4 Fleet Program were ordered by the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1920. Due to minor changes in design, primarily due to advances in torpedo technology, these three vessels were initially designated as "modified ''Kuma''-class", or "5500-ton class Type II", before being re-designated after the lead vessel, . Japanese Cruiser Nagara
was the lead ship of her class of light cruiser in the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was named after the Nagara River in the Chūbu region of Japan. Background ''Nagara'', as with the other vessels of her class, was intended for use as the flagship of a destroyer flotilla, and it was in that role that she participated in the invasions of the Philippines and the Dutch East Indies after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Design The ''Nagara''-class vessels were essentially identical to the earlier s, using the same hull design, powerplant and layout of armament. The main differences were in the design of the bridge, which was raised to allow for an aircraft hangar and launch platform above the No.2 gun in front of the bridge. Another change was the installation of the new, larger Type 93 torpedoes, which required an extension of the main deck. All vessels in the class were modified extensively during their operational lives, with no two vessels modified in the same way.Stille, '' Imp ...

It is also spelled ''Nakara'' or ''Nagara'' and also called ''Kokori''. Phonology Consonants Stops have both voiced and voiceless allophones, depending on their position in the word. Furthermore, a stop length variation is present, which is only contrastive in morpheme-medial positions. This can be interpreted as either gemination, or as evidence for the existence of two separate stop series, with a suprasegmental hypothesis being mostly ruled out. The tapped and trilled allophones of /r/ are in free variation. Vowels References Maningrida languages Indigenous Australian l ...
