N-240 Road (Spain)
The N-240 is a major east–west road in Spain. Originally running from Tarragona to Bilbao, several segments have been downgraded due to the construction of parallel motorways. The road heads southeast from Bilbao over the Barazar pass to Vitoria-Gasteiz. The segment from Luko to Vitoria-Gasteiz has been upgraded to ''autovía'' standards. From Alsasua to Pamplona the road was known as , but the stretch between Alsasua to Irurtzun has been upgraded to the Autovía A-10. From Pamplona to Jaca, the Autovía A-21 is being built parallel to the old N-240. The Navarrese section parallel to the A-21 has been renamed as NA-2420. From Huesca to Lleida the N-240 runs parallel to the Autovía A-22. The Autovía A-10 (also known as ''Sakanako Autobia'') is an autovía in Navarre. It is long and runs from the Autovía A-15 at Irurtzun to the Autovía A-1 at Altsasu. Autovía A-27 or Autovía Tarragona-Lleida is the planned upgrade of a section of the actual N-240 Spanish road, managed by the Spanish Government, between Tarragona and Lleida (both cities in Catalonia). Montblanc () is the capital of the Catalan comarca Conca de Barberà, in the Spanish province of Tarragona. The Prades Mountains are located in the vicinity of this town. Autovía A-22
Autovía A-22 or Autovía Huesca-Lleida is an upgrade of a section of the existing N-240 Spanish road, managed by the Spanish Government, between Huesca, the second largest city in Aragón and Lleida, a provincial capital in Catalonia. The route has all sections now open to traffic with the exception of the last 13km into Huesca. Autovía A-21
The Spanish Autovía A-21 is a highway between Jaca, in Aragon, and Pamplona, Iruña/Pamplona, in Navarre which is partially open and partially under construction. It follows or is an upgrade of the N-240 (Carretera), N-240 and links the Autovía A-15 east of Iruña/Pamplona with the Autovía A-23 at Jaca providing a link through the southern Pyrenees and connections to France, Huesca and Zaragoza. Phases Construction began at the Iruña/Pamplona end of the route, so while the sections in Navarre were completed by 2012, only six out of the eight sections in Aragon (totaling about 31 km) are open. One more section (7 km) is under construction in Aragon but work has not yet started on one further section (11.6 km). Seven financial institutions funded the construction of the highway. References
