Märta Ljungberg
Marta Liungberg (''modern spelling:'' Märta Ljungberg) (1656–1741), was a Swedish innkeeper. She managed the important inn at Ljungby in Sunnerbo. She was also a successful farmer, who acquired many of the farms around the area of the inn. In 1828, when it was decided that a city should be founded in Sunnerbo, Ljungby (at that time only a couple of farms around the inn), was chosen to be founded upon the land donated by her in her will. Before the inn Märta Ljungberg grew up on ''Ljungby Gård'' (English language, English: ''Ljungby Farm'') together with her parents and six siblings. Märta Blomstedt (1899–1982) was an architect and one of the driving forces of the Finnish functionalism movement. Partnering with her husband, Pauli E. Blomstedt, her first works were noted for their functional, rather than aesthetic or decorative appearance and settings in park-like environments. After her husband's death, initially she formed a firm with Matti Lampén to complete projects her husband and she had begun. Later, she and Lampén formed a firm designing their own creations. She designed all aspects of her buildings including the furnishings, demonstrated in one of Blomstedt & Lampén's most noted designs of the Hotel Aulanko. During the war, Blomstedt & Lampén mostly worked on renovation and restoration projects of existing buildings, but at the war's end, they returned to their own designs. Märta Strömberg (1921 – 2012) was a Swedish archaeologist. Life and work Märta Strömberg was one of the first female archaeologists to enter the academic realm in Sweden. Martha Eriksdotter Leijonhufvud (24 December 1520 in Ödeby Lillkyrka, Ekeberg, Närke – 15 January 1584 in Stegeholm), known as (), was a politically active Swedish noblewoman. She was the sister of Queen Margaret Leijonhufvud and sister-in-law of King Gustav I of Sweden: she was also the maternal aunt of Queen Catherine Stenbock and the daughter-in-law of the regent Christina Gyllenstierna. In 1568, she financed the deposition of King Eric XIV of Sweden, which placed her nephew John III of Sweden on the throne. ''Märta'' Elisabeth Margareta Eketrä (4 November 1851, in Stockholm – 26 August 1894, in Ulriksdal Palace), was a Swedish lady-in-waiting, favorite and confidant of Sophia of Nassau, queen Sophia of Sweden. Märta Eketrä was the daughter of the noble-born colonel and courtier Johan Gabriel Eketrä and Stanislas Margareta Tersmeden. During her childhood, she was a playmate of Louise of Sweden. She never married. In 1872, she was appointed ''hovfröken'' (maid of honour) to the new Queen after the accession of King Oscar II to the throne. Märta Johanna Bucht (1882–1962) was a Swedish schoolteacher, suffragist and peace activist. From 1908, she chaired the Luleå branch of the National Association for Women's Suffrage (Sweden), Swedish Association for Women's Suffrage (FKPR). She was also active in the peace movement. In 1919, she was one of the 12 Swedes who attended the Zurich conference where the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom was established. Märta Torén (21 May 1925 – 19 February 1957) was a Swedish stage and film actress of the 1940s and 1950s. Biography Torén's father was a Swedish military officer, and for three years, during World War II, he was a secretary in the Swedish war office. After studying at the Stockholm Royal Dramatic Theatre's Royal Dramatic Training Academy, Torén began her career on the stage and from 1947 she appeared in films. She appeared on the cover of the 13 June issue of ''Life Magazine'' in 1949. Torén appeared in 11 American film productions during her brief career.
