Møsstrond
Møsstrond is a small island village in Vinje Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. The village is located on the island Hovdeøyi which lies in the lake Møsvatn, high up in the mountains just east of Hardangervidda National Park. The village is located on the southern part of the island and it is very rural and isolated. The village has no road connections and is only accessible by boat. There are some scattered settlements surrounding the lake that don't have road connections either, so boats are frequently used on the lake. Møsstrond Church is located in the village and it serves the village and the vast, sparsely populated region surrounding the lake. Møsstrond Church
Møsstrond Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vinje Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Møsstrond. It is one of the churches for the Rauland parish which is part of the Øvre Telemark prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1923 using plans drawn up by the architect Olav O. Bitustøyl. The church seats about 100 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1598, but that was not the year the church was built. There is historical evidence of a medieval church at Hovden (now referred to as Møsstrond), but very little is known about the old church. At some point, however, the church was closed and there are no traces of the old building, nor is the exact site of the old church known. Møsvatn
Møsvatn or Møsvann is a lake in Vinje Municipality in Telemark county, Norway. It is the tenth-largest lake in Norway with a surface area of and a volume of . The lake lies just east of the Hardangervidda National Park, in Skien watershed (''Skiensvassdrag'') catchment area. The lake discharges into the Måna river at a dam located on the Vinje- Tinn municipal border (so a very small part of the lake crosses into Tinn Municipality too). The lake has an irregular shape with three arms. The longest length across the lake is about . Møsvatn is a shallow mountain lake by Norwegian standards, reaching a maximum depth of . Tundra Climate
The tundra climate is a polar climate sub-type located in high latitudes and high mountains. It is classified as ET according to the Köppen climate classification. It is a climate which at least one month has an average temperature high enough to melt snow (), but no month with an average temperature in excess of . The Köppen climate classification divides Earth climates into five main climate groups, with each group being divided based on patterns of seasonal precipitation and temperature. Subarctic
The subarctic zone is a region in the Northern Hemisphere immediately south of the true Arctic, north of hemiboreal regions and covering much of Alaska, Canada, Iceland, the north of Fennoscandia, Northwestern Russia, Siberia, and the Cairngorms. Generally, subarctic regions fall between 50°N and 70°N latitude, depending on local climates. Precipitation is usually low, and vegetation is characteristic of the taiga. Hardangervidda National Park
Hardangervidda National Park (, ), at , is Norway's largest national park. It spans from Numedal and Uvdal in the east and Røvelseggi and Ullensvang in the west across the Hardanger mountain plateau (Hardangervidda).
