Mäntsälä () is a municipality in the province of Southern Finland, and is part of the Uusimaa region. It has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is . The municipality is unilingually Finnish. Mäntsälä is one of three municipalities in the Uusimaa region that do not have a Swedish name; the others are Nurmijärvi and Askola. Mäntsälä lies about north of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. During the last few years, the population of Mäntsälä has been one of the most rapidly increasing in Finland. A new railway, the Kerava–Lahti railway line, was built between Kerava and Lahti with passenger traffic starting on 4 September 2006 from Mäntsälä railway station. Helsinki is about 40 minutes away, and Lahti even closer. Highway 4 ( E75) connecting both cities passes through Mäntsälä. Mäntsälä (village)
Mäntsälän kirkonkylä () is the largest urban area and the municipal center of Mäntsälä in Uusimaa, Finland, with about 11,000 inhabitants. It is located from Järvenpää, from Hyvinkää, from Porvoo and from Lahti. The Mäntsälänjoki River flows through the area and joins the Mustijoki River further south, which runs all the way to the Gulf of Finland. Etymology The village name ''Mäntsälä'' appears in early written material in the form ''Mensela'', ''Menselä'', ''Mensilä'' (1458), ''Mensse'' (1516), ''Mentzeby'' (1540). The village name has evolved from the house name, which probably includes the early host's first name Mäntsä (or Mänssä). It has been interpreted as an abbreviation of the given name Clement. Helsinki sub-region is a subdivision of Uusimaa in Finland. It is the most populous Sub-regions of Finland, sub-region in Finland with about million inhabitants. Uusimaa (; , ; both lit. 'new land') is a region of Finland. It borders the regions of Southwest Finland, Tavastia Proper (Kanta-Häme), Päijänne Tavastia (Päijät-Häme), and Kymenlaakso. Mäntsälä Railway Station
Mäntsälä railway station (, ) is located in the town of Mäntsälä, Finland, approximately from Helsinki Central railway station. The station was opened on 3 September 2006 as part of the new Kerava-Lahti railway line, and is served by the Z-trains which run on this route. Numminen, Mäntsälä
Numminen is a village in the southern part of the Mäntsälä municipality near the border of Pornainen in Uusimaa, Finland. More than 300 inhabitants live in the village. It is located along the Mustijoki River, about south of the Mäntsälä's municipal centre and about northwest of Kirveskoski, the municipal centre of Pornainen. There are three historic manors in the village: Nordbo (Ulriksdal), Ylikartano (Andersberg) and Alikartano (Frugård). Numminen has own primary school completed in 2013. The village includes the sports club Nummisten Vilkas and a hunting club. In 2023 parliamentary elections 32.5% of inhabitants of Numminen voted for the Finns Party. Sälinkää
Sälinkää (; , ) is a village in the Mäntsälä municipality in Uusimaa, Finland, with over 200 inhabitants. It is located northwest of the Mäntsälä's municipal centre and southeast of Oitti, the municipal centre of Hausjärvi. The north-south road 1471 from Hausjärvi to Mäntsälä passes through the village. Lake Kilpijärvi is located near Sälinkää. The Sälinkää village has largely been built in the immediate vicinity of the historic Sälinkää Manor (). Today, the manor operates as a reservation restaurant, where various events are organized. Other village services include two schools, Sälinkää School and Lukko School, one kindergarten, and a volunteer fire department. There was also a general store in the village before, which stopped operating in June 2022. The provincial government of Uusimaa named Sälinkää the Uusimaa village of the year in 2008. Southern Finland
