Mykolaiv ( uk, Миколаїв, ) is a city and municipality in Southern Ukraine, the administrative center of the Mykolaiv Oblast. Mykolaiv city, which provides Ukraine with access to the Black Sea, is the location of the most downriver bridge crossing of the Southern Bug river. This city is one of the main shipbuilding centers of the Black Sea. Aside from three shipyards within the city, there are a number of research centers specializing in shipbuilding such as the State Research and Design Shipbuilding Center, Zoria-Mashproekt and others. As of 2021, the city has a population of Mykolaiv holds the honorary title Hero City of Ukraine. A military counteroffensive was launched by Ukraine on 29 August 2022 to expel Russian forces occupying the southern regions of Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. Military analysts consider the counteroffensive to be the third strategic phase of the war in Ukraine, along with the concurrent eastern counteroffensive, after the initial invasion and the Battle of Donbas. Battle Of Mykolaiv
The battle of Mykolaiv was a battle which started on the night of 26 February 2022, as part of the southern Ukraine offensive during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. It ended in Russian forces being repulsed from the city in March, and by April all but a few of its surrounding villages were under Ukrainian control. Mykolaiv is a strategically important shipbuilding city on the Black Sea and on 4 March was "seen as the next key stepping-stone for Russian forces on the road to Odesa." FC Mykolaiv is a football club based in Mykolaiv, Lvivska Oblast, Ukraine. Overview The club was originally called Tsementnyk-Khorda Mykolaiv and was supported by the cement factory in the town. ''Tsementnyk-Khorda'' performed well at the Amateur Level in the 1996/97 season and finished Runners up in the competition. This was an entry criterion to the professional leagues and the following season the club entered the Druha Liha. Mykolaiv Raion ( uk, Миколаївський район) is located in Mykolaiv Oblast of Ukraine. Its administrative center is the city of Mykolaiv.
